Everyone walks in with a different story, different concerns, and a different goal. The most important thing a physical therapist can do is listen to all of it.

At Axis, you are never just the next item on the schedule. Our team takes the time to hear your questions, understand what is holding you back, and find real solutions, while making sure you feel comfortable and at home from the first visit. Helping you get back in the game of life starts with understanding exactly where you are right now.

From the elite athlete to the weekend warrior, whether your goal is racing down the slopes or lifting a grandchild, that attention is why people choose us time and time again.

We truly love getting feedback like this, and it's a great reminder that understanding your recovery is part of getting better. That's why our team takes the time to explain what is happening, why each exercise matters, and how to keep the work going at home. When you know the purpose behind every movement, you can feel more confident and more involved in your own progress.

If you are preparing for surgery or working through recovery, just ask for Axis, and we’ll build a plan that fits you.

The lymphatic system plays a critical role in how your body manages fluid, fights infection, and removes toxins. When it is compromised, the effects are hard to ignore.

Lymphedema is excessive swelling in the arms or legs caused by a buildup of lymphatic fluid. It most commonly occurs following cancer treatment, removal of lymph nodes, or radiation, and it can lead to pain, joint stiffness, skin changes, and significant limitations in daily function. While there is no cure, it is very much manageable with the right care.

At Axis Sports Medicine, lymphedema therapy focuses on education, prevention, and symptom management through a personalized treatment plan that may include specialized lymphatic massage, compression garments, targeted exercise, and lifestyle modifications. Meet Jennifer Fear, another inspiring story from this year’s Axis Ascent!

In 2016, Jennifer was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and found herself in a wheelchair. In 2023, she completed the Appalachian Trail. This year, she set out to hike the Continental Divide Trail, covering 1,200 miles before a high ankle sprain brought her to Axis for treatment, and then to our hike.

Her presence at the 11th Annual Axis Ascent reminded us exactly why we do what we do. Her determination, resilience, and spirit are something our entire team will carry with them for a long time.

Jennifer also founded Fearsome, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people with MS stay mobile, active, and independent. If her story moves you, we encourage you to learn more and support her mission at fearsomeis.org.

Thank you, Summit County. We're proud to serve this community and will keep working hard to earn this honor year after year.

This one brought tears to our eyes.

At this year’s Axis Ascent, we had the privilege of cheering on Kathy, who has been working with Axis physical therapist Ami to overcome the effects of a stroke. Kathy set her sights on Black Mountain Lodge, refused to take the chairlift, and made it there on foot after more than three hours on the trail.

Moments like this are why we do what we do. The work that happens inside our clinics shows up on the mountain in ways that words can hardly capture. Kathy, your strength and determination inspire every single one of us. We are so incredibly proud of you!

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for the 11th Annual Axis Ascent at Arapahoe Basin!

From a brisk, sunny start to snow showers on the peak, the day had a little bit of everything. We had a great turnout on both routes, and the baked potato bar warmed everyone up and made it a truly memorable gathering.

We'll share more recaps from Axis Ascent throughout the week, so stay tuned!

Your spine does more than hold you upright. When something is off, you feel it in how you move, breathe, and carry yourself every single day. For some people, that something is scoliosis.

Scoliosis is a lateral curvature of the spine that most often develops during childhood or adolescence, though it can progress at any stage of life. It can show up as uneven shoulders, a postural shift, muscle fatigue, or back pain, and in many cases it goes unaddressed for years.

Our Avon location offers Schroth therapy, a specialized, individualized approach that uses exercise, posture correction, and targeted breathing work to slow progression and, in some cases, improve the curve itself.

To learn more about Schroth therapy, visit AxisSportsMedicine.com or contact our team to get started.

October is National Physical Therapy Month, and we couldn't think of a better time to acknowledge the work our team does every day.

Established by the American Physical Therapy Association, National PT Month highlights the vital role physical therapists and physical therapist assistants play in restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving quality of life for the people they serve. From injury recovery and post-surgical rehab to preventative care and performance, the impact of great PT goes far beyond the clinic.

To all the PTs and PTAs out there, thank you for showing up for your patients day in and day out. And to everyone who has trusted us with their care, thank you too. You are the reason we do what we do!
