It’s a beautiful day and a beautiful site at camp today. We’ve broken ground on our Multi-Purpose Adaptive Rec Center project. A much-needed space for our campers and we grow. We are 87% of the way to our $6M goal. Will you help us push us to the finish line with a gift today? https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/hopes-and-smiles-capital-campaign.
When we look at this construction site, we don’t just see concrete and steel, we see the future of campers like Nick. For his family, finding a safe, inclusive environment was a profound challenge. As his mom, Melissa, shared, “This camp has been a lifesaver for us. This is the only place Nick will come. That’s why it’s so important to us. We hold this camp dear to our hearts because it’s just wonderful.”
As a year-round camp in Iowa, we urgently need more indoor program space to operate effectively during the colder months. This new 14,800 sq. ft. facility features an indoor multi-purpose gym, specialized adaptive activities, and fully adaptive locker rooms. More importantly, it will allow us to accommodate an additional 20 campers per session, easing the burden of our current waiting lists. With similar services unavailable within 300 miles, the demand for our life-changing programs is higher than ever.
Together, we can continue to offer transformative experiences for people of all abilities and provide profound mental health and respite benefits for both our campers and their caregivers.
