Earlier this week we took time out of our day to pay our boss a visit for an early celebration of Bosses Day! From the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate our “boss lady” for everything she does for the department and the hospital.

If you’ve never had the privilege of meeting TeriJo, here are some things you should know:
💜She leads with compassion and heart
💜You’ll always be greeted with a smile
💜If she doesn’t have the answer, she will find it
💜She believes in her staff and their personal and professional development
💜She is the most patient and kind person you will ever meet

We are reminded that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Everyone faces challenges, stress, and difficult moments. Taking care of your emotional well-being is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength. Whether that means reaching out for support, taking time to rest, connecting with loved ones, or speaking with a healthcare professional, every step toward better mental health matters.

At Cogdell Memorial Hospital, we believe that caring for the whole person includes caring for the mind, body, and spirit. Together, we can help reduce stigma, encourage understanding, and remind one another that no one has to face life's challenges alone. Our Behavioral Health department is here for you.

We were honored to host a ribbon cutting celebration to open our Carol Wolfe Foundation Counseling Center at Western Texas College last week.

This counseling office will host individual therapy sessions for students and staff. The space also contains serene seating and a recharge room for staff to rest and refuel throughout the day.

We want to recognize a few people who helped make this happen:
💙Angie Strickland, president of the Carol Wolfe Foundation. Thank you for pouring into our vision.
💙Julie Fritz for putting love into every detail and making the rooms look AMAZING. Every piece of decor is thoughtfully selected and has meaning. The space wouldn’t be what it is without you.

Therapy is built on relationships, consistency, and individualized care. Because clients stay with us for different lengths of time depending on individual need, appointment openings don’t become available on a predictable schedule.

Rest assured we are getting through our waiting list as quickly as possible when we do have openings. We know waiting isn’t easy, and we appreciate your patience. 💜

We often get asked, “How do you become a therapist?”

We’re always happy to share what goes into this meaningful work, because becoming a therapist is quite the trek! Along with undergraduate and graduate degrees, our therapists complete extensive supervised training, pass state and national licensing exams, and maintain ongoing continuing education requirements.

So when you sit down with one of our therapists, you’re not just getting someone who cares… you’re getting a highly trained professional who is committed to providing quality care. 💜
