Autumn’s Crowning Glory
There is a particular beauty
that arrives with autumn.
The trees begin to glow
as though they have gathered
the last warmth of summer
and turned it into gold.
Crimson leaves tremble
in the morning breeze.
Copper catches the afternoon sun.
Amber shimmers
against a softened sky.
Everywhere,
the earth seems to be
dressed for one final celebration.
Walk slowly.
Notice the carpet beneath your feet,
a mosaic of fallen leaves,
each one once green and living,
now carrying the quiet poetry
of change.
The trees teach us
that letting go
can be luminous.
That a season can be ending
and still be breathtaking.
So pause beneath
the autumn canopy.
Look up.
Let the golden leaves
fill your vision.
Breathe in the crisp air.
Feel the stillness gathering around you.
And for a moment,
ask nothing of the season.
Simply witness it.
The earth glowing.
The leaves falling.
The light softening.
Autumn,
in all its fleeting splendour,
reminds us to pause,
to breathe,
and simply be present
to the quiet beauty
of the season,
the golden leaves,
the softened light,
the graceful letting go,
to autumn’s crowning glory.
