Our deodorant is sold out! But we’ll restock in the new year with an improved formulation. We want to hear what you think about it so far - what do you love? How can we improve?

I’ll be working on a new formulation in the new year, and redesigning the packaging. So I’d love to hear some feedback, wishes, thoughts etc. You can drop a message or comment below:)

Frosted bottles filled with finely ground powders of foraged and homegrown botanicals, collected throughout Norway, Virginia, and Massachusetts.

Pictured is the Hint of Green version, which is a facial cleanser suited for sensitive & troubled skin. Use it as a face mask also, to truly take advantage of the powerful plants I included in this blend.

The ingredients are as follows (in order of amount):

▫️ Homegrown tulsi (aka. holy basil): the most sacred plant in Hinduism and for good reason. It has powerful healing abilities.

▫️ Apples from Norway: from the same tree I used to steal from as a kid. I asked this time, I promise. A they contain Alpha Hydroxy Acid which works as a mild exfoliant.

▫️ Leaves from homegrown Marigold: soothes skin and smells amazing.

▫️ Neem: a highly praised plant in the Ayurvedic & Unani health systems, for it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties.

▫️ Rhassoul clay from Morocco: a gentle and mineral rich clay commonly used in Hammams.

▫️ Wood nettle from Northern Virginia: discovered and foraged during an early pandemic stroll in Stream Valley Park. It’s packed with minerals and vitamins.

▫️ Amla (aka. Indian Gooseberry): proven to support collagen metabolism due to its antioxidant properties (NCBI).

▫️ Comfrey leaves: proven to regenerate cell formation (NCBI), and commonly used as a poultice for it’s strong anti-inflammatory properties.

▫️ Oat: well-known and used for centuries as a topical treatment for various skin conditions including eczema, rosacea, and acne.

▫️ Spent grain collected from homebrewers in Richmond, VA: a few studies show it has valuable bioactive compounds that elicit anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Did you know Beer Spa is a thing?

▫️ Rye flour: a very common grain in Nordic cuisine, but not common in skincare. However, I have found this grain to be superior in cleansing ability. I can’t find information on why exactly it works so well. Let me know if you do!

Do you know about this wild, arctic plant?

It's an evergreen shrub native to cold regions of North America, Asia, Europe, and the Falkland Islands. Its small black fruit - - is one of the most powerful antioxidant berries!

Early last fall, we had 3 days with unusually warm weather - 30C & barely a cloud in the sky. With bags & buckets, uncle Tom and I hiked up the Sula mountain to forage as we call them in Norwegian. At about 700m [2300ft] elevation we were surrounded by them. Two hours later we had filled everything we could carry.

The next day, we pressed out the juice to make crowberry concentrate and jam. I dried and saved the skins with the intention to use them one day. And today was the day!

You'll find them in both of the products we're launching next week!

Stay tuned! I’ll elaborate more in the weeks to come:)

We've been living in the woods of New England this past month - partly to escape the hot & humid Virginia weather, but mainly to scope out areas we might want to move to. The White Mountains in NH reminded me of Norway, with its tall mountains and cold swimming holes. And the coastal marshes have an abundance of seaweeds that I want to research and experiment with! The north is calling me:)

My energy during this time has been devoted to helping with the which is a non-profit initiative to help the black community in Richmond, VA.
It takes place at the THIS SATURDAY, August 15th, from 1-6 pm. In addition to 18 local vendors, there will be a number of events happening on stage.

We cannot fight for the environment without fighting for human rights. Environmental efforts will not be a priority until human rights are upheld. Survival is the first priority - it's in our nature. ⁣

During my time in Virginia, I've observed many of the issues plaguing American society. This country needs a lot of systematic change and it’s powerful to witness it slowly happening. Keep fighting! You’ve inspired the growth of a movement worldwide! πŸ–€β£

Today is Jonsok, a solstitial celebration practiced throughout Norway and Denmark with bonfires and gatherings. The purpose of the fire is to protect against evil spirits. So I invite you to light a fire today - no matter the size - for the BIPOC communities around the world πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯⁣
