In the Fall, we see an increase in prescriptions for Accutane (isotretinoin) for acne. Let’s ask the Stone Drug pharmacists how to manage the skin sensitivity and dryness that accompanies treatment so you can be successful!

▪️keep your skin clean by using a gentle cleanser that is free of fragrances and dyes.
▪️Always use a good nighttime moisturizer after cleansing to lock in hydration.
▪️Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun so use a morning moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30.
▪️Stay hydrated from the inside out by drinking plenty of water.
▪️Don’t forget to take care of your lips! Use a good petrolatum based balm throughout the day. If you need extra help, try cortibalm—it has a little bit of hydrocortisone.

These same tips apply to anyone using topical acne products including Retin-A (tretinoin), benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid.
