As a survivor of complex abuse trauma living with chronic illness/auto-immune disease, I understand intimately how challenging it can be to find joy and meaning in life.
For many years I was pretty stuck in the dark abyss of survival mode and hopelessness. I didn’t understand the mind/body connection. My test results always came back normal. But I was wading through excruciating physical, mental, and emotional pain every day.
When I was 8 months pregnant with my 3rd boy, I remember pleading with God to deliver me from the hell I was living inside my head and body. I had a type of stroke episode soon after that prayer that rendered me unconscious for about 3 hours. When I awoke I couldn’t speak or move for about 30 minutes. During that terrifying 30 minutes I was keenly aware that my two little boys had been left unsupervised that whole time. I was in a complete panic but couldn’t do anything about it until my body regained its ability to move and speak.
Thankfully I found them safe and sound in the basement of our three-level townhome watching cartoons. It was that moment that I became determined to do whatever it took to fight for my mental and physical health because my boys deserved to have a mother that was present and healthy.
That baby in my belly then is now 17. I have spent all these years devoted to the work and education to understand what had happened to me and how to heal and create a meaningful life in spite of it all.
I am still on my journey, but I am happy, healthy and thriving. And I have had the privilege to help hundreds of others find their way to healing and creating a meaningful life for themselves.
I am so excited to soon be relaunching my coaching business to exclusively help abuse trauma survivors with chronic illness reclaim hope and create a meaningful life. There is a beautiful life after trauma and chronic illness, I promise!
