Let’s keep it simple. Static positions (sitting or standing) are inherently easier than dynamic positions (rolling or crawling.)Your baby isn’t lazy, you’re just asking them to do something that’s harder!
Breaking down the movements, we work in side-lying, on their bellies, propped on hands and knees and work on activating and strengthening different muscle groups that they need to use to complete a roll or crawl. THEN we work on the actual movements. If the strength isn’t there, you cannot expect them to complete the movement with proper mechanics.
Have questions about your baby’s preferred movement patterns? Want to learn more about encouraging strength and motor planning. Reach out for more info or to book a session!
