Dance like no one is watching - then come get a massage! Your body will thank you 🥰

It’s Sunday - Sing and dance 💃🕺🏼

Sometimes, taking care of ourselves looks like pretending no one is watching (or listening) and letting loose to sing and dance!

I’ve always believed there’s something special about moving your body in a way that brings you joy. It turns out, science backs that up!

Dancing isn’t just fun. It can be good for our bodies, our minds, and our overall well-being.

Here are three reasons to turn up the music and dance a little more!

1. It’s good for your body. 💪❤️
Dancing gets your heart pumping, strengthens your muscles, improves balance, and can help protect your bones as you age. The best part? You’re having fun while moving your body!

2. It helps reduce stress and supports brain health.🧠
Research suggests dancing can help reduce stress and depressive symptoms while supporting memory and other cognitive functions. It’s a wonderful way to care for both your physical and mental health.

3. It lifts your mood and brings joy.
Music and movement can help boost your mood, ease anxiety, and create a sense of connection with others. Whether you’re dancing with your spouse, taking a class, dancing through the house alone, or laughing with friends, there’s something beautiful about allowing your body to move freely..

You don’t need perfect rhythm, fancy moves, or a dance floor. Sometimes, it’s simply turning up your favorite song in the kitchen and letting yourself enjoy the moment.

Life gets busy, and we can get so caught up in everything we need to do that we forget to make room for the things that make us feel alive.

So move your body, find reasons to laugh, spend time with people you love, and don’t forget to have a little fun along the way.

Wellness isn’t just about what we eat, how we exercise, or how productive we are. It’s also about nurturing our joy, caring for our minds, and being intentional about how we live.

When was the last time you danced just because it made you happy?

A thought for your Saturday as I sit on my back patio with my coffee, enjoying a slightly cooler breeze with less humidity this morning, looking at the greenery of the plants all around me and listening to the birds chatter.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

No matter what is happening in the world, we don’t have to control everything to find reasons for gratitude.

We can acknowledge the hard things, celebrate the good things, and choose to live this day with faith and intention.

You don’t have to wait until everything in life is perfect to experience joy. Sometimes joy begins with simply noticing the blessings that are already here.

What is one blessing you’re choosing to be grateful for today? ❤️

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

— Romans 12:12 (NIV)

Today’s reflection: Hope is a choice we can practice.

There will always be circumstances we can’t control. We can’t prevent every heartbreak, correct every injustice, or know how every situation will turn out.

But we can choose how we respond.

We can hold on to hope when the future is uncertain. We can practice patience when life doesn’t unfold according to our plans. And we can remain faithful in prayer, trusting God even when we don’t understand what He is doing.

Being joyful in hope doesn’t mean ignoring pain or pretending everything is fine. It means believing that today’s struggles do not have the final word.

Being patient in affliction doesn’t mean passively accepting everything that happens. It means continuing to seek wisdom, take appropriate action, and trust God through the process.

A thought to carry into Sunday

You don’t have to have everything figured out today.

You can acknowledge what is difficult, appreciate what is good, and take the next faithful step.

You can live with intention even when life feels uncertain.

Three things to consider today

* Gratitude: What is one blessing in your life that you may have been overlooking?
* Compassion: Who could use a little encouragement or kindness from you today?
* Faith: What concern could you bring to God in prayer instead of carrying it entirely on your own?

A little encouragement before you begin your day and to carry into your week.

The news reminds us that the world contains suffering, uncertainty, and difficult choices. It also reminds us that people are working to restore communities, protect vulnerable lives, and create opportunities for others.

Both realities deserve our attention and can be true at the same time.

Stay informed, remain compassionate, and don’t let the weight of everything happening in the world rob you of the good that is right in front of you.

May your Sunday be filled with peace, gratitude, meaningful connections, and a renewed awareness of God’s presence in your life. ❤️

If you would like a peek into the lengthier more rambling thoughts about the Mary and Martha Devo (Luke 10:38-42) this morning, some of the things that came to my mind may resonate with you.

This is a theme that seems to have run through my life for the last three decades or more. One would think I would’ve learned by now!

Thanks be to God that he loves me just the way I am and continues to gently nudge me to remember that the most important thing is my relationship with Him.

While I know that and believe that, my time spent does not always show that.

As I sat in silence, he reminded me that I do not need to strive to be worthy or valuable or loved. That I am all of those things simply because I am His.

I tried to explain to Him that I am using the gifts He has given me to make others feel better and to help them feel His love through my words, presence and hands.

I told Him that I talk to Him at the beginning of every session and often throughout and that when I am praised for my skills, I always point it back to Him and let them know that it is a gift.

I could almost see Him smile and shake His head, and remind me that while all of those things are good, I am not spending nearly as much time as I need just resting in His presence.

I told Him that I sit and drink my coffee in the morning before I get moving and listen to worship music (OK, I am usually also checking email or playing a brain game to wake my mind up).

I told him I sit in the evening and do very little, that I rest. That I read or watch TV with my husband and we spend time just hanging out.

I told Him I play brain games on my phone to my mind keep it sharp.

Again, that sense of a serene smile, and the reminder that THE WAY THE WORLD RESTS IS NOT RESTING IN HIM.

Immediately my mind was flooded with all of the things I am naturally drawn to.

*Time with family and friends, laughing, playing games, talking about our relationship with Him and with each other.
*Sharing joys and burdens- being open and vulnerable with deep and meaningful conversations.
*Time spent in nature just admiring the wonders of his creation.
*Time spent listening to worship music and actually focusing on it, not checking email and playing games at the same time on my phone.
*Time spent sitting in the word and letting it speak to me.
*Time spent sitting in silence and solitude outside listening to the birds and the wind and hearing His still small voice, letting Him speak to my heart once I am able to quiet the busyness of the world and my to-do list.

I asked Him how do I do all of that while attempting to take care of my body as it ages, lift weights, meal prep, get enough protein, see clients and use my gift to help them and show them His love.

He said “start your day resting in me and there will be time for the rest of it.
Ask me to order your priorities for the day. I have so much more for you than you are doing now, but you cannot see it because you continue to strive and set your schedule and make your plans which is not leaving room for the abundance that I still have for you.”

I sat with some quiet tears and gratitude for His gentle love, His reminder to rest, His constant care, constant provision, and knowing that I trust in Him, even when I don’t understand the plan, the direction, the pace or the timing (because it never matches mine)!

I walked away with the reminder that what I need is:

Not more striving.

Not a better schedule.

Not another productivity hack.

Just a few moments spent resting in His presence and letting Him order the day.

How does this speak to you?

Today’s devotional was the story of Mary and Martha.

Most of us know the story. Martha was busy serving. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet listening.

For years, I thought the lesson was simply, “Slow down and spend time with Jesus.” And it is. But this morning, something else stood out to me.

Martha wasn’t doing bad things. She was doing good things. Necessary things. Helpful things. The problem wasn’t her heart to serve. The problem was that somewhere along the way, the doing became more important than simply being with Jesus.

I think many of us live there.

We fill our days with responsibilities, commitments, goals, work, family obligations, and endless to-do lists. We become so busy managing life that we forget to actually live it.

An intentional life isn’t about doing more. It’s about choosing what matters most and making space for it.

Faith. Family. Friends. Fitness. Finances.

Not perfection. Not balance every day. Just intentional choices that move us toward the life God is calling us to live.

That’s what this page is about.

A little faith, a little practical wisdom, a little encouragement, and sometimes a gentle reminder that the next thing on your checklist may not be the most important thing in front of you.

Welcome to The Intentional Life.

I’ve been using the new Ashley Black NeXcia tool on clients during sessions and on myself for the past few months, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Clients love the combination of red light therapy, soothing heat, and the unique feel of the two interchangeable heads. Many describe it as taking their session to the next level, helping muscles and fascia relax more deeply and creating an overall sense of “meltiness” that lasts beyond the appointment.

As a massage therapist, I’m always looking for ways to enhance results and improve the client experience. This tool has become a valuable addition to the sessions I already customize with a variety of techniques to support recovery, mobility, relaxation, and overall wellness.

Have you experienced red light therapy or heated fascial work before? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Questions I am often asked:

* Do you massage men or just women?
* Do you massage students or teens?
* Do you massage the face and head?
* Do you work on glutes?
* Do you work on pecs, abs or inner thighs?

The answer is simple:

I provide therapeutic bodywork for anyone who can benefit from it.

I work all muscle groups within professional, legal, and ethical boundaries.

Your comfort, safety, and goals are always the priority. Areas not being worked on remain securely draped, and every session is customized to your specific needs.

If you’re ever unsure whether I work on a particular area or condition, just ask. Open communication is an important part of creating the best session for you.
