Congratulations to Casey Azuero, PhD, MPH, director Allen Heinemann, PhD, and their coauthors! We’re excited to celebrate their Best Poster Award at the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (ASCIP) Annual Conference & Expo in Salt Lake City!

Their research looked at how resilience and pain may affect life after spinal cord injury ( ). The team found that resilience was more strongly and consistently linked to community participation than pain severity. In other words, having greater resilience may be an important factor in helping people stay engaged in the activities and communities that matter to them. These findings point to an exciting possibility: building resilience could become an important part of rehabilitation and recovery after SCI.

Congratulations to the entire team on this important work — and on the well-deserved blue ribbon!
