Cyclothymia is related to disorder, though the symptoms of cyclothymia are not as intense. Often misunderstood, missed, or dismissed, I wanted to create this simple visual summary of handwritten notes explaining how the current DSM describes

These notes are for anyone who wants to better understand this diagnosis, or for professionals and looking for a review. Because my NCE study guide has been so helpful for so many visual learners studying for the national counselor exam, I've begun to slowly (and I mean slooowly) doodle my way through the DSM. I'm creating a one-page illustrated handout for each diagnosis reviewing how the currently presents the disorder (i.e. not the amount of nuance I'd like, but the essentials to know for according to this standard medical model) I hope, over time, to build a binder that will be helpful for students, counselors and other providers, and anyone curious about the DSM but intimidated by the dense medical textbook.

Traditional worksheets ask us to process in a way that's clean, orderly, and organized- that's not how my brain works, so it's not what I needed to heal. Instead, I needed resources that were spacious, open ended, visual, and layered. Resources like that didn't really exist when I started my , so I made them! (Thanks to Patron support since 2018, I've made a LOT of them)

This guided offers prompts that help you create, on good days, a plan for what to do, where to go, what food to order, what message you could text to your people, etc etc etc when things feel overwhelming. You make it on good days to be a roadmap for yourself on rough days.

It's not therapy, but it's a structured format you can use to create a your collection of resources, strategies, inspiration, and ideas for care.

Creating in adulthood isn't really about luck or even finding the right people - it's about showing up, being open, and risking vulnerability. A loooot of media right now is selling us stuff with the promise that it will make us less and more loved or respected, but one recent study demonstrated that it's - not coolness, power, or wealth - that people find more likeable.

Recently I created a zine about how we make new in adulthood. This little map formed as the centerfold! you can download the whole zine on Patreon.

DBT is a therapy model developed to help people build skills to navigate big emotions, create more satisfying relationships, and learn a more mindful approach to life. It's not right for everyone, but is a researched back approach to consider if you're on a

I wish I'd had when I started therapy in my 20's, but if I'm honest, 20-something me probably would've quit when I found out that clinical worksheets and boring-looking workbooks were involved. I made my DBT activity book to make learning dialectical behavior therapy skills a little more accessible for folks like me- it's visual, playful, and less scary-clinical, while still faithful to the model originally developed by University of Washington researcher Marsha Linehan.

Like this flow chart? Boy, do I have more for you. You can find more doodle-style DBT diagrams, illustrations, activities, and coloring pages in T
the DBT Activity Book- available on my website (a micro business!) or on amazon (the opposite!)  Also, it's all on Patreon! If you’ve been curious about supporting my work, now’s a great time to hop in and get digital access to the entire activity book (plus 250+ other resources I’ve created) for $6/mo. There's a lot happening in the world right now that we need to attend to with serious concern, but taking time out to PLAY is more important that ever. in adulthood is a form of rest, connection, and often, movement- linked to healthier , lower anxiety, and more satisfying relationships. You can read more about Dr Steward Brown's research on and take my super fun quiz (seriously, it's ridiculous and weirdly accurate) at the url mentioned in the post- or via the link in my profile.

Ok so what if- and hear me out- *every* feeling-naming experience that invites us to connect words (even silly ones!) with our emotional experience can help our brains build and strengthen new neural pathways? That's what research tells us: even using our absurdly well developed lexicon of spooky-synonyms to ghoulishly describe how we're feeling actually can help us rehearse the kind of noticing-naming-communicating practice that can help us communicate better, regulate emotions more effectively, and bond more deeply in relationships. And that’s not spooky at all!

This halloween as a pdf is just $1.99 on my website today. It’s perfect as a playful tool to practice skills for conflict resolution and healthy relationships. The download also includes a fill-in-the-blank worksheet version! – grab it via my link in bio.

BUT WAIT! Is a paper print out insufficient for your dark, dark soul that revels in the spectacularly spooky year round? Never fear! All my goth, alt, and therapist and followers loved this resource SO much last year that, this year, I had a very limited run of stickers and pillow cases printed for this year. Get ‘em while supplies last in my shop.

I'm finally getting caught up on reformatting the art I made for Patreon this summer for socials- but this post is about this joyful little circuit of free libraries I've been visiting and refilling since coming back to Saint Louis last month! It's so fun to refill little libraries on Saturday mornings and imagine the people who will discover and take home a treasure. (ps, everything is secondhand: gifts or thrifts, and doing this sustainably makes it even more fun!)

I woke up way too early this morning, so I refilled some projects in my neighborhood before meeting friends for a walk around the - all sourced secondhand from , with extra help from the very kind woman who helped me paw through junk for even more art supplies this week.

Should I add a book to my route so I can have a trifecta?

My neurodivergent study habits become one of Amazon's top reviewed study guide for the NCE. ✨✨✨ Making this study guide and now getting to hear from how many people it's helping pass the affirms so much for about why it's important to support- not try and change- people who think in different ways. Keep being weird, ya'll- your unique way of seeing and translating the world can be a doorway to help others to do the hard things they're struggling with.

I was so scared to take the NCE that I waited YEARS after graduating to sign up for this exam that's required for full licensing as a . When I finally started studying, the study materials available felt completely inaccessible to me as a visual thinker. So I buckled down and did what I had to do through my whole academic journey- dive into existing resource, extract the key ideas, and translate them into the format my brain thinks in: illustrations, visuals, and color. Now, everyone has access to my visual notes through my Patreon and this study guide.

For a limited time, I have some "used" NCE Visual Study Guides for sale on my website at a deep discount. They're not really used (in fact, they've all been checked and confirmed no one wrote in them!) but may have dinged or dented covers.

Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs) include hair-pulling ( ), skin-picking, and some types of nail-biting. When these types of behaviors cross from being an occasional nervous habit to a near constant compulsion, it can be hard to know how to respond well.

I took this page of notes while listening to Saint Louis-based and expert, Dr Laura Chackes Psy.D. talk on the topic.

This art illustrates:
🧠 How BFRBs function (and why stopping isn't just about willpower)

💡 What treatment actually looks like today.
