Kunzite (LiAlSi2O6 + Mn) - This light pink/purple stone (blame color confusion on pleochroism) came from sites of ancient supervolcanoes, where violent eruptions caused by silica gas and lithium rich magma reigned supreme once. This form of lithium aluminum silicate (LiAlSi2O6, or spodumene), is found in pegmatitic granite, which is just granite that has cooled slowly enough for the mineral components to crystallize into larger than normal pieces. The color is due to the presence of manganese (Mn), with some darker pieces being much more valuable. As a matter of fact, it can be seen in some beautiful jewelry pieces.
When you think of its origins, you can see the supervolcanoes were the creators of this planet as we know now. If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t have atmospheric gases to sustain us, we wouldn’t have rich soil in which to grow our crops in, and when we look at this crystal, we wouldn’t have portions of its chemical makeup to help us through this human experience we are each on. The planet truly radiates love for us, as is shown in kunzite.
This stone, with this deep love, targets the heart chakra, so much so that The Book of Stones (Robert Simmons, Naisha Ahsian and Hazel Raven) recommends gifting this to others, as “people who receive kunzite, even when they are unaware of its energies, often find themselves feeling an impulse toward kindness and altruistic behavior”.
As we navigate this new moon cycle, we can look towards kunzite and the beautiful gratitude and love she portrays. She is born of the most giving mother, and with this, we can pay it forward now. Use kindness and altruism as your courage through any fears that may pop up. Face these upcoming days, and even if you feel any fears pop up, push through anyway. With love, gratitude and kindness.
Amen, and so it is.
