I put together an Autumn Grounding Ritual because fall is a pretty major seasonal shift in Ayurveda. It’s a time to pay a little more attention to warmth, nourishment, and grounding.

Starts with authentic chai tea, followed by a handmade herbal scrub to exfoliate and soften the skin. Then a warm oil hair + scalp treatment (and you get to take home your own scalp massager), followed by a full-body massage (Abhyanga) with warm therapeutic oils.

To finish, you can choose between time in the herbal steam box or a warm chai-infused towel compress.

This therapy is available now through the fall season in my home therapy room or at SALT wellness.

Had some oral surgery this week, and it set my TMJ issues into overdrive!

Between the surgery, inflammation, and the clenching that comes with stress and discomfort, my jaw has definitely been letting me know it’s not happy.

So I’m pulling out all the stops and combining a number of different therapies: massage, Marma, rest, moist heat, and some red light therapy, which can help support the body’s natural inflammatory response and cellular repair.

Sometimes, being the practitioner means being your own client. And I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not always the best client.

My body knows what to do to heal. I just have to be patient and give it the right support while it does what it already knows how to do.

Jon Horton thanks for the awesome mask!

Why do we need smoke up in the air? Because sometimes the energy just needs to shift. I burn Palo Santo to clear my space and reset the energy.

I use this Ayurvedic hair mask to remove the oil after Shirodhara and Shiro Pichu, but you can also make it at home as a nourishing treatment for your own hair and scalp.

Shikakai, reetha, amla, bhringraj and hibiscus work together to gently cleanse the hair and scalp while helping to preserve the hair’s natural oils. Instead of relying on a harsh shampoo to strip away the oil, these traditional Ayurvedic ingredients help lift excess oil, dirt, and buildup while leaving the hair feeling soft and nourished.

Each ingredient has its own role:

• Shikakai gently cleanses without stripping.
• Reetha helps remove oil and buildup.
• Amla supports strong roots and shine.
• Bhringraj is traditionally used to support healthy hair growth.
• Hibiscus helps soften the hair and soothe the scalp.

Use one tsp of each herbal powder. Combine and add lukewarm water to create a paste. Let it set for 15 minutes. Apply to hair; wait 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and condition if needed.

There’s a lot more to Shirodhara than just pouring warm oil on the forehead.

River of Renewal is an Ayurvedic Shirodhara ritual designed to help you step out of the constant doing and into a deeper state of relaxation. The steady flow of warm oil and rhythmic movement can help settle an overstimulated mind, ease tension, and leave your nervous system feeling more grounded and restored.

It’s especially nice when you feel like your mind has been running nonstop, you're super stressed, feel like you’ve been carrying a lot, are sleep-deprived, or you simply just need some downtime.

Now offering River of Renewal at Salt Wellness.Take some time to slow down and renew with me.

There is so much Sneha in this box. In Sanskrit, Sneha means both oil and love.

I can't think of a better way to describe Ayurveda because these oils are so much more than ingredients; they're chosen with purpose and care.

One of the things I appreciate most about Ayurveda is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every oil serves a different purpose. Every person presents with a different story. The art of Ayurveda is understanding the person in front of me and selecting the herbs, oils, and therapies that best support their individual needs.

If you've been curious about Ayurveda, I'd love to share it with you. You can now find me at Salt Wellness on Wednesdays and Fridays, where I'm offering personalized Ayurvedic therapies designed around you.

Big thanks to Banyan Botanicals for the box of love. 💚

I feel like somebody's watching me...

I seem to find Ganesha in the most unexpected places.

The remover of obstacles has a way of appearing exactly when I need the reminder.

This time... from the rafters. 🐘🙏

He was by my side through every chapter of my Ayurvedic journey.

Tweeter sat with me while I attended lectures, observed my online clinicals, and came running to the voices of my Vaidya mentors. I'm convinced he absorbed every lesson right alongside me.

If you ever practiced with me or visited my yoga studio, you met him. He welcomed students, joined savasana whenever he felt like it, and reminded us that sometimes the deepest practice and simplest joy is just being present.

Thank you for being my companion, my yoga buddy, and my favorite Ayurvedic study partner.

Until we meet again…..
