How well do you know your spinal anatomy?
The spine is divided into 4 major sections:
🔅Cervical Spine (neck)
The cervical spine supports movement in your neck and head and protects the base of your spinal cord.
🔅Thoracic Spine (upper back)
The thoracic spine is connected to your rib cage area and supports the torso and chest.
🔅Lumbar Spine (lower back)
The area is the main culprit for low back pain which is often due to heavy lifting.
🔅Sacrum and coccyx bones: (tail bone)
This area helps support your weight while you sit, walk or run.

Maintaining a healthy weight and eating foods that reduce inflammation can contribute to your optimal spinal health.
Here are a few foods to consider:
Salmon, avocados, flaxseeds, and seaweed are all rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, Omega-3 are good fats that reduce inflammation and promote bone and tissue health.
Dark green vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and kale, can help reduce back pain by reducing inflammation in the spine.
Turmeric is believed to have many anti-inflammatory benefits. Other spices offering the same benefits include basil, oregano, rosemary, ginger, and cinnamon
Patients are often surprised to learn about the types of conditions that are related to spinal health.
Good chiropractic care and proper spinal alignment can often address many conditions that you might not associate with the spine including:
🔸Headaches. Chronic headaches and migraines can be caused by issues in the neck.
🔸Sinus infections and congestion. Chiropractors can perform adjustments to your neck or facial that are designed to open and drain the sinuses.
🔸Fertility issues. The sacral region of the spinal cord controls bowel, bladder, and sexual function. Addressing concerns in this area has been shown to increase fertility.
🔸Numbness in the arms or legs. Injury or pressure on the spine can cause tingling in your arms, fingers, legs, or feet.
Have you ever tried yoga?
When done properly, yoga and chiropractic care go hand-in-hand to promote spinal health and holistic wellness.
Gentle stretching increases flexibility, endurance, and balance and strengthens the joints and muscles to promote healing, and helps to build the body's resistance to future injury.
Yoga is for everyone, not just the flexible. If you're a beginner or advanced practitioner it’s important to find the right class and knowledgeable instructor that matches your comfort and ability level.

4 tips to follow after your adjustment!
🔅Don’t do Anything Strenuous: After a chiropractic adjustment, give your body time to rest by avoiding heavy lifting or strenuous exercise.
🔅Don’t Sit too Long: When possible keep the spine in gentle motion with stretching or walking. This helps your body settle into the adjustments and maintain alignment.
🔅Do Hydrate: Your body is 60% water. Drinking plenty of water afterward helps cushion joints and flush away toxins.
🔅Do Follow Advice: Lastly, it's important that you always follow your chiropractor's aftercare advice.

Spring time gardening and knee pain? 5 Tips to help with that.
1. Watch where you step.
Yards and gardens are full of uneven terrain and obstacles. Between the holes you dig, the tools you are using, and general dirt erosion, gardens can become rife with tripping hazards. It is important that when you get up to move, you are aware of your surroundings so that you don’t accidentally step in a hole.
2.Use a gardening stool.
One of the most common complaints is knee pain after kneeling for too long. An easy way to combat this is to use a light bench or stool to sit on rather than kneeling on the ground.Using a bench will allow you to change positions easily and more frequently, and will allow you to get up from the ground easier.
3.Take breaks.
Without proper rest, you will increase your risk of injuring tired muscles. By taking the time for rest breaks, you will ensure that your body stays healthy for the entire season.
4. Don't forget to use proper lifting mechanics.
It is important that you pay attention to how you are lifting heavy items: take a wide stance (about shoulder width), bend your knees, and keep the load close to you. Ask for help!
5.Use tools.
When digging into a new area, make sure to wear good quality gloves in order to protect your hands from unknown hazards such as rocks and broken glass. When pulling weeds, use a trowel to help loosen dirt and break thick, stubborn roots. Use a rake to help you clear out debris and spread mulch.
