First things first, “toned” is not a thing and you don’t “tone” fat. The “toned” look you desire comes from two things:
1. Having muscle and 2. Having a low enough body fat to see the muscle. Strength training is our friend for so many reasons, this is just one. So if you want to look “toned” let go of the myth that lifting weights will make you look bulky and get your nutrition in order instead of chasing something that doesn’t exist. I hope this helps. Carbohydrates, in addition to protein and fat, are one of the three macronutrients needed by the body. Carbs, as they are more commonly known, have gotten a pretty bad reputation when it comes to weight loss. But did you carbs are the body’s main source of energy. This energy comes from the glucose that is produced after carbs are digested and is used for physical and mental activity. During intense workouts carbs keep muscles from being used for energy. There are two categories of carbohydrates: simple and complex. Examples of foods with simple carbohydrates are fruits, veggies, dairy products and processed foods. Complex carbohydrate are in foods like starches, fiber, whole grain breads, cereals and legumes. Diets that strictly limit orb eliminate carbs ultimately do what all diets do, they reduce calories. This is what makes fad diets like Keto seem to work. For many women a diet extremely low in carbs is unsustainable. When the carbs are added back and weight regain occurs it is easy to think it’s the carbs. But consider the calories associated with the carbs that you eliminated were X number and eliminating them out you in a calorie deficit. Then you go back to eating carbs thus adding X calories back in. Instead of going to such extremes you can track your calories and/or macros, eat intuitively , practice portion control or any combination that works for you. I hope this helps.

The best way to get started is to keep it simple. Walking is the simplest form of movement you can do. I enjoy walking outside but it’s been below freezing 🥶 in Atlanta lately. If that’s the case where you are walk on a treadmill. If you don’t own a treadmill walk around your home. All that matters is that you get up and get moving. You got this.
