Pfizer offered $𝟑𝟓𝟎 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 for the bacteria you’re missing in your gut 🤯
And I need you to understand why that stopped me in my tracks.
Because when most people hear “gut bacteria,” they think:
𝐵𝑙𝑜𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔. 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑝𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛. 𝐷𝑖𝑎𝑟𝑟ℎ𝑒𝑎. 𝑅𝑒𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑥.
And YES, digestion is a huge part of this. 💩
But what if what’s happening in your gut is showing up somewhere you would never think to look?
Your child keeps getting sick. 🤧
Another ear infection. Another sinus infection. Another round of strep. It feels like the second they recover from one thing, they’re catching the next.
Your skin won’t clear.
Eczema. Rashes. Acne. Inflammation that keeps coming back no matter how many creams or topical treatments you try.
Your immune system feels like it’s constantly struggling. 🦠
You either catch 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 going around or your body seems to overreact to everything it encounters.
Your brain doesn’t feel like your brain.🧠
Brain fog. Mood changes. Trouble focusing. Anxiety. That feeling that something is just OFF.
And yes…
Your gut is a mess. 😣
You’re bloated after meals. Foods you used to tolerate suddenly bother you. You’re constipated, running to the bathroom, or constantly trying another supplement just to feel normal.
We tend to treat every one of those things like its own separate problem.
But your body doesn’t operate in separate departments.
Your gut communicates with your brain.
Your microbiome interacts with your immune system.
Your immune system influences inflammation throughout the body.
And the organisms living inside that ecosystem perform functions that can reach FAR beyond whether you p**p every day.
That’s why keystone species have our attention.
These aren’t just another trendy probiotic.
Certain organisms can have an outsized influence on the microbial ecosystem around them. When important organisms and the functions they support are missing, simply throwing another generic probiotic at the problem may not recreate what was lost.
And THAT is why hearing $𝟑𝟓𝟎 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 mattered to me.
Pfizer wasn’t interested because somebody needed help with bloating.
There is enormous potential in understanding what these organisms do and how their functions could influence human health.
This is why we’ve been talking about the Holobiome Roadmap.
We want to stop looking at the microbiome as a digestive side note and start understanding it as an ecosystem connected to what is happening throughout the body.
What species are missing❓
What functions disappeared with them❓
What does the ecosystem need for those organisms to thrive❓
And what changes when we begin rebuilding from THAT level❓
Because if you’re dealing with the same skin issues, repeated infections, immune problems, brain symptoms or digestive complaints over and over…
Maybe another band-aid isn’t the only question worth asking.
Maybe we need to start asking what happened to the ecosystem underneath it all.
That is why we’re going after the keystone species.
And if a pharmaceutical giant sees hundreds of millions of dollars of potential in them, you can bet we’re paying attention too.
