Teacher of the Month: Sofia🌟

My yoga journey began in my early twenties as a way to improve my physical health. What I discovered was so much more—a philosophy that offered deep self-exploration, a stronger connection to my essence, and a path to balance on multiple levels. What started as a workout quickly became a way of life, a powerful tool for mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Yoga has been my anchor through life’s challenges, a guide in my personal growth, and a source of strength and curiosity. It has helped me connect with my inner wisdom, challenge myself, and stay grounded during difficult times. Most profoundly, it prepared me for two of the most transformative experiences of my life—childbirth with my two beautiful children.

After years of practice, study, and personal exploration, I decided to take the next step in 2023 by completing my Yoga Teacher Training. My goal is to share this incredible practice with others, helping them find their own path to balance, resilience, and self-discovery.

I am honored to guide others on their journey, just as yoga has guided me on mine ✨

Michael grew up in Yonkers New York but has lived in Suwanee Ga for 35 years. 🌟

Suwanee has been home to Mike and his wife Barb where they raised their two children.

Michael spent his career in corporate IT and recently retired in June of 2023.

Michael has always been active and was an avid cyclist in his younger years, but as he got a bit older and the roads became more congested he shifted his interest to hiking.

Michael hiked extensively in the North Georgia mountains, completed several sections of hikes of the Appalachian Trail, hiked the Oregon coastline, trekked through Patagonia, and for his 60th birthday hiked Mt Kilimanjaro.

Michael discovered yoga 6 years ago and began practicing at Functional Yoga Medicine. 🌿

Yoga became an important part of his daily life. He was drawn to the challenge that it provided each time he sat down on his mat and the opportunity to grow stronger physically and connect spiritually with something that helps provide balance and calmness each time he practices. ✨

Marie’s yoga journey began as a personal exploration but quickly evolved into a passionate calling to teach.

She credits the practice and the supportive community for her own growth and happiness. Through teaching, she has discovered that the more she gives, the more she receives, inspiring her to share yoga with others.

One of Marie’s greatest joys is teaching kids’ yoga, where she nurtures positive relationships—both with others and within themselves. She finds it incredibly rewarding to witness their growth and confidence.

Bridget grew up in Snellville, GA. She attended the University of Georgia at the start of her college career and has always had a heart to serve others. She went on to attend nursing school during the COVID-19 pandemic. Bridget started her nursing career in the NICU, where she spent caring for the most vulnerable. 🌸

Bridget started yoga as a way to support her mental health. As a former gymnast, she has always been drawn to the yoga and pilates practice. Working night shift and long hours, she faced the world of burnout early on, and knew she needed something that would lead her down a holistic change in her life. She learned to put the mental and physical needs of her own first and take a step away from the bedside.

Through yoga, Bridget has regained confidence, improved her well-being, found a new sense of self-worth, and most importantly is now living the life she wants to live. Inspired by others to take her yoga practice a step further, she is now fully embraced in learning and teaching others the practice of yoga. She believes yoga is a way of life and can lead you down the path to success.

Off the mat, Bridget is a pediatric nurse, cat lover, and huge swiftie! As a 2025 YTT grad, she is excited to lead this community down a path that helps them deepen, flourish, and grow in their yoga practice. ✨

We must support our body to maintain “HOMEOSTASIS” by doing OUR part to actively “Create Health”. Our lives in the last century creates lots of advancements in technology, however, such evolutions created unhealthy environments for our body.

As a result, we are not facing an unprecented “epidemic” of Autoimmune, Cancer, Cardiometabolic, PCOS, and various Symptoms that cause havoc in our lives.
