Our next trip from Georgia to NC will be next weekend.Dr. Perry, born and raised in the heart of Hurricane Helene’s trail, has been in the trenches firsthand, facilitating and assisting with the reconstruction, rebuilding, and nurturing of North Carolina after its worst storm ever recorded. When he asked me to help him take initiative in aiding the victims, as a North Carolina-born American myself, I felt the answer was obvious. For two North Carolina natives, this wasn’t a hard question. The hard question is: Will you, as fellow Americans, give to your brothers and sisters in need? The media is painting a lie, which is easy to do considering the most affected areas are without power and resources.Left behind by FEMA and facing a very cold winter, I feel called to help. If our government and current administration feel they can no longer assist with what little they did in the first place, it is up to us.•
