A suspected big baby isn't always a big baby, but the label alone can change a birth plan and how a birth is managed. In this episode, Dr. Rebecca Dekker and Dr. Sara Ailshire explore the updated evidence on suspected big babies, including how accurately ultrasounds can predict birth weight and how the label of a “big baby” can influence birth outcomes. They break down the risks of shoulder dystocia and other birth complications, examine new research on early induction, and discuss the potential benefits and risks of planned Cesareans for big babies.

It is OFFICIAL!
And all glory to God.

With tears in my eyes and a heart overflowing with gratitude, I can finally say…

I am Dayana Harrison, LM, CPM, BSM.

Although I have been a Certified Professional Midwife for several months, I am now officially a Licensed Midwife in Washington State.

I have climbed mountains. Some have taken my breath away with their beauty; others have brought me to my knees in exhaustion, uncertainty, and tears.

But this mountain was different.

It required more than strength. It required surrender. There were moments when the summit seemed impossibly far away, when sacrifices felt overwhelming, and when all I could do was trust the God who called me.

And He carried me through.

By His grace, this mountain has been summited, and I have safely made it back down.

But I never climbed alone.

My heart is forever grateful for the beautiful souls God placed along my path. From Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, the United States, and my beloved Colombia, each person, culture, and experience has shaped the midwife I am today.

To the families who entrusted me with the sacred privilege of witnessing new life, and to the midwives who shared their wisdom, believed in me, and guided my hands: thank you. I carry you in my heart.

Colombia gave me my roots, my language, my accent, my flow and part of my identity. But above all, my citizenship is in Heaven.

These letters after my name are not a testimony to my strength, but to God’s faithfulness.

This was never merely about a degree or a license. It was always about a calling from Law to serve families with love, compassion, humility, and dignity.

May my hands always serve gently, my heart remain humble and teachable, my curiosity and passion for learning to never stop and my life reflect the One who brought me here.

“The LORD has done great things for us; whereof we are glad.” — Psalm 126:3

I am humbled beyond words.

The mountain has been climbed. But the calling has only begun.

All glory, honor, and praise belong to You, Lord.

⚠️🟡 Urinary Incontinence By Jess Rawlinson | Midwife | Student Midwife Studygram 🟡⚠️

Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine. It is a symptom rather than a diagnosis and occurs due to different underlying mechanisms. The main types include:

💢 Stress incontinence: leakage with exertion, coughing, or sneezing due to weak pelvic floor support or urethral sphincter function.

‼️ Urge incontinence (overactive bladder): sudden, intense urgency followed by leakage caused by involuntary bladder contractions.

🪣 Overflow incontinence: constant or intermittent dribbling when the bladder does not empty properly and becomes overdistended.

🧠 Neurogenic incontinence: loss of bladder control due to brain, spinal cord, or nerve dysfunction.

Recognising the type is key to appropriate management.
