Screen time and your child's brain development is something every parent wonders about.

In this video, Dr. Miller talks about a recent study on iPad use in young children and white matter, the wiring that connects different areas of the brain. His advice for families is simple: balance screens with the basics like books, reading, writing and play. 📚

Many of you asked what Dr. Miller eats. Here is the simple intermittent fasting and eating plan he follows: a 6 to 7 hour eating window, animal protein, vegetables that grow above ground and a few berries, with no bread, pasta, rice, dairy, sugar or alcohol. 🥦

Every body is different, so check with your own doctor before you change how you eat.

Which part of this plan would be hardest for you? Tell us in the comments. 👇

What happens at a Brain Training Intensive?

Dr. Miller explains how our Intensives for children work, from 1 to 4 weeks depending on each child's needs.

First, we look at which areas of the brain need support. Next, we do focused work in our office for a week or more. Then we build a simple home program parents can do in 15 to 20 minutes a day.

What questions do you have about Intensives? Comment Brain and we'll send you more info.

How does Dr. Miller assess the brain?

He starts with a physical exam that checks primitive reflexes and signs of cerebellar, parietal and temporal weakness. Then he uses computer assisted testing for balance, vestibular and eye movement to set a baseline and track change.

Practitioners, our Practitioner Workshop with Dr. Kelly Miller is October 17 and 18 in Tampa, Florida. Seats are limited to 4.

Reading challenges can have many layers. Could visual skills be part of the picture?

At Saving Your Brain, RightEye is one of the tools we use to assess visual tracking and eye movements that may play a role in reading. It helps us better understand how visual skills and brain processing work together as we consider each child’s individual needs.

RightEye is one modality within our broader approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
