The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a complex structure that helps you chew, speak, and move your jaw comfortably. Pain or dysfunction may involve the joint itself, the surrounding muscles, or other contributing factors.
So, where does PRF fit in?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is prepared from a small sample of the patient’s own blood. It contains platelets and a fibrin matrix, along with naturally occurring components involved in the body’s healing response.
Depending on the underlying diagnosis, PRF may be considered as one treatment option for certain TMJ conditions. However, research is still evolving, and outcomes can vary from patient to patient.
🦷 The first step is understanding what tissue is causing the symptoms. A thorough clinical evaluation—and imaging when appropriate—helps guide treatment decisions.
Every patient is different. The right approach begins with an accurate diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan.
