New to Pediatric Practice? Build Your Alignment-First Foundation.

If you’re just stepping into pediatric practice, you do not need a longer list of treatment ideas. You need a dependable way to think about posture, alignment, movement, and the body a child is learning to use every day.

Before choosing a garment or applying a strap, learn to look at the whole picture: the child’s base of support, head and trunk alignment, weight distribution, antigravity activity, movement quality, and the corrections the child can accept without force.

That is the foundation of effective TheraTogs use.

Posture and Torso Alignment is the first online prerequisite for clinicians working toward TheraTogs Certified Fitter status. It introduces the clinical reasoning behind an alignment-first approach: why the torso matters, how functioning alignment supports movement, and how therapist-guided strategies can help carry successful therapeutic input into daily life.

TheraTogs is not a shortcut or a stand-alone answer. It is therapy you wear—a clinician-directed system designed to help improve body awareness and functioning alignment during the many hours outside a treatment session.

For clinicians who are new to pediatrics, this course is a strong place to begin building the observational skills and alignment-based framework needed to use TheraTogs thoughtfully, individually, and with purpose.

Start with posture. Build from the torso. Then use TheraTogs to help carry that learning into daily life.

A trunk orthosis should not be a one-size-fits-all solution—or simply a way to hold the body still.

The TherAlign™ Dragonfly TLSO System combines a lightweight, warm-and-form spinal panel with a TheraTogs undergarment to create customized, integrated trunk support. Its patent-pending double-wing design anchors on the pelvis, helping provide stability and torso support with minimal bulk and weight.

What makes Dragonfly different is the clinical logic behind it: the rigid panel supports the trunk, while the TheraTogs undergarment provides close-fitting sensory input, flexible stability, and a base for customized muscle-assist strapping. Together, the system is designed to support functioning alignment during the real moments that matter—sitting, standing, moving, learning, and participating in daily life.

Dragonfly is not a replacement for clinical reasoning or individualized care. A clinician assesses the person’s alignment, base of support, goals, tolerance, and response to manual correction before determining whether this type of support is appropriate.

Rotational patterns at the hip and tibia can meaningfully affect foot progression, gait efficiency, and how a child manages movement over their base of support. In this randomized controlled study of 30 children with spastic diplegia, the group that received TheraTogs with bilateral lower-extremity strapping alongside gait training showed significant improvements in hip and knee rotation, gait velocity, and foot-progression angle. The gait-training-only group did not show significant change in those measures.

This study supports a core clinical principle: when a rotational correction is available through gentle, unforced handling, TheraTogs and targeted strapping may help sustain that more functional alignment during daily movement. It is another contribution to the growing TheraTogs evidence base supporting individualized, therapist-guided, alignment-first intervention.

The Clinical Starter System (CSS) is a working, multi-size TheraTogs resource for clinicians who want to assess, trial, and teach with the system in real time.

Keep a CSS in your clinic to:
1️⃣Trial appropriate TheraTogs configurations with different clients
2️⃣Verify garment sizing before ordering
3️⃣Explore clinician-directed strapping strategies based on individualized goals
4️⃣Demonstrate fitting and therapeutic application with caregivers
5️⃣Support more informed recommendations for daily-life carryover

The CSS is available in Infant, Pediatric, and Adult options, with opportunities to add sizes and components as your clinical needs grow.

You saw who they could be. TheraTogs helps carry that vision into the hours between sessions — so the learning doesn't stop when treatment does.

There's a difference between a caregiver who nods along in a session and one who's actually bought in.

Buy-in doesn't always look dramatic. Sometimes it's a parent texting a quick question between visits. Sometimes it's noticing the set is a little more worn than it should be after just one week — a good sign, not a bad one. Sometimes it's simply that they stop asking "are we doing this right?" and start just... doing it.

That shift is the moment therapy stops living only in the clinic and starts living in daily life. It's also the moment a caregiver becomes a true partner in the process, not just someone following instructions.

This is the last post in our Caregiver Connection Series, so we want to close it out with your voice: How do you know when a caregiver has really bought in, versus just going through the motions?

You don't hand someone a TheraTogs set and expect mastery on day one. You build it in stages.

Maybe the first session is just about getting comfortable with the garment base. The next is about one strap, placed with purpose. The next is about timing — when to put it on, when to take it off, what "good" actually feels like.

Training a caregiver isn't a single handoff. It's a series of small, repeatable wins that add up to real confidence — and real carryover at home.

Tell us: How do you break TheraTogs training into steps so it doesn't feel like too much at once?

Your process might be exactly what another clinician needs to hear. 👇

The first time a caregiver sees the full TheraTogs set laid out — the tank, the hipster, the straps, the Velcro pieces — it can feel like a lot.

New system, new routine, a child who may be squirmy or unsure about it too — it's a completely reasonable moment to feel overwhelmed. And how a clinician handles that moment often decides whether TheraTogs becomes part of daily life or ends up in a drawer.

Confidence isn't something caregivers show up with. It's something we help build, one small win at a time.

We want to hear it from you: What's your go-to move for helping an overwhelmed or skeptical caregiver feel confident in that first session?

Share it below — every tip helps another clinician (and another family). 👇

TheraTogs is therapy you wear — but "wearing it" only happens outside the clinic if a caregiver believes in it.

Alignment work doesn't finish when a session ends. The real progress happens in the hundreds of small, ordinary moments during the week — sitting at breakfast, playing on the floor, standing at the sink. That's where repetition turns into learning, and learning turns into lasting change.

But none of that happens without the caregiver. They're the ones deciding, every day, whether the straps go on. Which means caregiver engagement isn't a "nice to have" alongside clinical skill — it's part of the clinical skill.

We want to hear from the people who do this work every day: What's a moment when caregiver buy-in changed the outcome of a case for you?

Drop your story below — we're collecting real examples for the rest of this series. 👇
