Getting to work independently isn't just a convenience. For many people with disabilities, it's the difference between employment and unemployment.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we're celebrating the connection between driving independence and professional independence.

When someone learns to drive with adaptive equipment — they don't just gain a license. They gain access to job opportunities, healthcare appointments, community connections, and the kind of self-sufficiency that changes everything.

That's the value. That's the talent. That's the mission. 💛

We recently came across an article that reminded us of something we see every day in our students. 🚗

Even after reading about the progress in Santa Fe and communities across the country — there is still so much anxiety around driving for people with disabilities. The fear of not succeeding. The unknown of what an evaluation involves. The uncertainty of whether it's even possible.

We are here to help ease every one of those fears. Swipe through for strategies that work — and know that you are not alone. 💛 ➡️

Dyslexia is the most common learning difference in the US — and one of the most misunderstood. 📖💛

1 in 5 Americans has dyslexia. And most of them were never properly diagnosed.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month — a time to clear up misconceptions, share facts, and celebrate the incredible strengths that often come alongside this learning difference.

Dyslexia can affect processing speed, reading signs, and spatial awareness — all of which play a role in driving. That's why a comprehensive evaluation with a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist can make all the difference in understanding what safe, independent driving looks like for someone with dyslexia.

Don't assume. Get evaluated. 💛 Link in bio.

September has been a BIG month. 💛

SCI Awareness. Hydrocephalus Month. National Service Dog Month. The Abilities Expo. So many conversations, so many moments, so much community.

Before we close out the month, we want to pause and ask you something simple 👇

What's one thing — big or small — you're grateful for this September?

It could be a milestone, a person, a moment, a new piece of equipment, a driving lesson, a conversation. Anything at all.

Drop it in the comments. We'll be reading every single one. 💛🚗

The first formally trained guide dog in the United States arrived in 1928. 🐾🚗

Her name was Buddy — a German Shepherd trained in Switzerland and brought home by Morris Frank, a blind American who became one of the founding forces behind the modern service dog movement. Frank and Buddy together helped establish the Seeing Eye — the oldest guide dog school in the US — and changed what independence looked like for blind Americans forever.

Nearly 100 years later, there are an estimated 500,000 service dogs working across the country — helping people with everything from vision and hearing impairments to mobility limitations, seizure disorders, PTSD, and more.

The human-canine partnership has always been powerful. This month, we're especially grateful for it. 🐾💛
