As National Midwifery Week comes to a close, my heart is so incredibly full. 🤍
To every family who has invited me into your story, trusted me with your care, and allowed me to walk beside you as you prepared to welcome your babies Earthside — thank you. It is a privilege I will never take lightly. Every family, every birth, every sacred threshold crossed leaves a little piece of itself with me. I am forever changed by the people I have the honor of serving.
Midwifery is so much bigger than one person. It is a lineage. A thread woven through generations of women and midwives who have come before us, those who walk beside us now, and those who will carry this work forward long after we are gone. I am grateful for the midwives who walk alongside me, who teach me, encourage me, challenge me, and remind me that we are never doing this work alone. And I hold so much hope for the midwives who will come after us, carrying this ancient wisdom into a future we can only begin to imagine.
This week, I had the profound honor of holding sacred space as three families welcomed new life into the world. Three beginnings. Three entirely unique stories. Three reminders of the extraordinary strength, tenderness, and transformation that birth holds. To be invited into those quiet, powerful moments — to witness the first breaths, the first cries, the meeting of parent and baby — is a gift that words will never quite be enough to describe.
There is something so humbling about this work. We are invited into the most vulnerable, powerful, and intimate moments of people’s lives, and our role is not to make the story our own, but to hold space for theirs. To witness. To listen. To trust. To honor the wisdom of the body and the unfolding of each family’s journey.
This work is an honor. This calling is a privilege. And the love that surrounds the arrival of new life is something I will never stop being in awe of.
Happy National Midwifery Week. May we continue to protect the sacredness of birth, uplift one another, and make room for every family to be met with dignity, compassion, and reverence as they welcome their babies Earthside. 🌿🤍
