Meet Camille Sherman, CPhT, a Certified Pharmacy Technician and Intake Specialist with Red River Health. Camille has been a Certified Pharmacy Technician since 2010, and she says working in pharmacy has always been her passion. Because Red River Pharmacy brings a variety of pharmacy services together under one roof, she enjoys learning something new every year.

When Camille was invited to join the Red River Health infusion clinic, she saw it as a chance to grow her knowledge of medications and insurance billing and to build relationships with doctors, staff, and patients. For Camille, caring for patients comes down to the simple things. "Caring for someone is visiting with them, listening to them, remembering things about them and their family, putting a smile on their face, and possibly giving them laughter for the day," she said. She strives to do at least one of those things for someone every day.

Her advice to every patient is short and direct. "Speak up for yourself! You are the only one that will always have your back and know what could be best for you."
Camille is a proud Atlanta High School graduate who lives in Atlanta, Texas, with her husband, Kevin, and their children, Chloe and Kyson.

She makes the drive to Texarkana because, in her words, Red River Pharmacy has always felt like family. Away from work, you will find her cheering on the Atlanta Rabbits, traveling with her family, and serving at her church with their Sunday school class and youth group. She is also the granddaughter of two pastors, and she and her husband have opened their home as host parents to foreign exchange students from Denmark, Japan, and Thailand.

We are so thankful to have Camille on the Red River Health team.

Multiple sclerosis affects everyone differently, and at Red River Health, we are honored to support patients across the Ark-La-Tex who are living with it.

MS is a chronic disease of the central nervous system, in which the immune system affects the protective covering of nerve fibers. Symptoms vary widely from person to person and can include fatigue, numbness, vision changes, and difficulty with balance or mobility.

Infused therapies have become an important part of MS treatment for many patients. Your neurologist may discuss options that include therapies such as Briumvi, Ocrevus, Lemtrada, or Tysabri, depending on your diagnosis and health history.

At Red River Health, we partner with your neurologist to deliver these infusions in a comfortable, professional setting close to home, so you can focus on feeling like yourself.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. It is a progressive brain disease that slowly affects memory, thinking, and the ability to handle everyday tasks. Everyone forgets a name or misplaces their keys now and then, but changes that begin to disrupt daily life deserve a closer look.

Early signs can include trouble remembering recent conversations, repeating the same questions, difficulty planning or following familiar steps, getting lost in a familiar place, and changes in mood or personality. Family members are often the first to notice. If you are seeing these changes in yourself or someone you love, please talk with your primary care provider or ask about a referral to a neurologist.

An early evaluation matters because some newer treatments are intended for people in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. After testing, your neurologist may discuss options that include infused therapies, along with the regular monitoring those therapies require. Families also find that an early diagnosis gives them more time to plan together.

If your neurologist has recommended an infused therapy for Alzheimer's disease, we’ve got you.

Crohn's disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation anywhere along the digestive tract, most often in the lower small intestine and the beginning of the colon. It is a chronic condition, which means it is managed over a lifetime rather than cured, and many people move between periods of active symptoms and periods of remission.

Symptoms can include persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramping, unintended weight loss, fatigue, and low energy that is hard to explain. Because these symptoms overlap with many other conditions, people sometimes wait a long time before bringing them up. Please do not wait. A gastroenterologist can order the testing needed to sort it out.

Many treatment plans today include a biologic therapy given by infusion or injection, and your provider may discuss options that include infused therapies alongside diet, nutrition support, and regular follow up. When an infused therapy is part of your plan, receiving it close to home makes the routine far easier to keep.

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation is an excellent starting point for patients and families at crohnscolitisfoundation.org.

If your gastroenterologist has recommended infusion therapy, please call us with any questions about scheduling or what your first visit will look like.

Rheumatoid arthritis is often misunderstood as simple wear and tear on the joints. It is actually an autoimmune disease, which means the immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of the joints. That is why rheumatoid arthritis tends to affect the same joint on both sides of the body, and why it can bring fatigue and low grade fevers along with pain.

The signs many people notice first are stiffness in the hands, wrists, or feet that lasts longer than thirty minutes in the morning, joints that feel warm or swollen, and a level of tiredness that rest does not fix. Because early treatment can help protect the joints over time, it is worth mentioning these symptoms to your primary care provider or asking about a referral to a rheumatologist.

Treatment plans vary quite a bit from person to person. Some people do well on oral medications. Others are prescribed a biologic or biosimilar therapy that is given as an infusion or an injection. Your provider may discuss options that include infused therapies, and if one of those is right for you, we can deliver it right here in Texarkana instead of sending you down the road.

If your provider has recommended infusion therapy for rheumatoid arthritis, please give us a call. We are happy to walk you through what to expect.

August is Psoriasis Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to recognize the patients in our community who live with this condition every day.

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune mediated disease that speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells, leading to raised, scaly patches that can be itchy, painful, and hard to manage. For some patients, psoriasis also affects the joints, a related condition known as psoriatic arthritis.

Today's biologic infusions have changed what is possible for many people living with moderate to severe psoriasis. Your dermatologist or rheumatologist may discuss treatment options that include therapies such as Ilumya, Skyrizi, or Stelara.

At Red River Health, we administer the infused biologics your provider prescribes, right here in Texarkana, in a calm and comfortable space close to home.

You can learn more from the National Psoriasis Foundation at psoriasis.org/about-psoriasis.

Discover the impact of psoriasis on over 7.5 million US adults. From its causes to managing symptoms, learn about the non-contagious immune-mediated disease and how it can affect your life. Request your free guide to understanding psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis today.

One of the best parts of our work is hearing from the patients we serve.

A patient recently wrote, “Very knowledgeable and compassionate staff.” That kind of feedback means a great deal to our team, because it reflects the care and attention we aim to bring to every infusion appointment.

At Red River Health, our goal is simple. We want every patient in Texarkana and the region to feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout their treatment.

Have you had a chance to meet Nikki Scott, AGACNP-BC, our nurse practitioner at Red River Health?

Nikki's path to nursing started close to home. She completed her prerequisites at Texarkana College, earned her BSN through an off campus UAMS program, and finished her MSN at UT Arlington. She holds both her RN and NP licenses, and she brings that full range of training to every patient she sees.

What drew Nikki to Red River Health was the team itself. In her words, “Everyone was so welcoming. We all have the same goal, which is to provide the best patient care possible.”

She says the best part of her job is getting to know her patients, celebrating their successes, and supporting them through the harder days.

Nikki lives in Ashdown with her husband, Justin, so caring for patients in this region feels like caring for her own neighbors.

Her advice for every patient is simple. “Take time to prioritize your health. As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

We are grateful to have Nikki on our team, and we know our patients are too.

This month on Beyond the Infusion Chair, we are proud to feature Tracy Graf, RRT, our Account Manager.

Tracy is a registered respiratory therapist who was born and raised right here in Texarkana. She and her husband have been married for 25 years, and their family includes three children and grandchildren.

When you ask Tracy what she loves about her work, she will tell you it is helping patients get what they need to feel better and improve their quality of life. She chose Red River Health because it is locally owned, has a great reputation, and stays deeply involved in the community and in patient care.

The advice she wishes every patient would take is practical. In her own words, “Really investigate the insurance you are signing up for, and reach out to someone who can give you an unbiased opinion.”

Outside of work, Tracy loves to travel, spend time with family, and exercise, and her motto says it all. “You only live once, just go.” She is also mom to two very spoiled dogs, Buck and Belle.

We are grateful to have Tracy on our team.

Many people are surprised to learn that some neurologic conditions are treated with infusion therapy, right here close to home.

Neurologic diseases affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, and they include conditions such as multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis. Symptoms can range from muscle weakness and fatigue to changes in balance, vision, and coordination, and they can look very different from one person to the next.

For some of these conditions, neurologists prescribe infused therapies that are given on a regular schedule. At Red River Health, we partner with your neurologist to deliver the treatment they prescribe in a calm, comfortable setting in Texarkana, so you can focus on feeling like yourself.

If your neurologist has talked with you about infusion treatment, our team is happy to walk you through what to expect. Please give us a call with any questions.
