THIS IS SERIOUS!
Getting Botox or dermal fillers done? What are the chances that the products are not diluted with bacteriostatic water containing bacteria?
Recently, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts highlighted a counterfeit drug case involving an unlicensed practitioner who falsely represented herself as a nurse and collected more than $1 million from 900+ clients, whom she injected with counterfeit Botox and dermal fillers imported from China and Brazil. Authorities also found bacteria in water used to dilute the Botox.
What happened to the patients?
The Justice Department reported adverse health effects, including infections, facial or eye drooping and paralysis, double vision, impaired eyesight, severe swelling, and hard lumps or nodules. Multiple clients required hospitalization or additional medical treatment.
This case is a serious reminder of why drug sourcing, traceability, and supply-chain security matter. If you handle prescription drug and still think compliance can wait, THINK AGAIN.
