As some of you may know, our studio’s piercer (and my beautiful daughter) Zia struggles with stage 4 advanced rapidly regenerative endometriosis. Zia has had multiple surgeries to try and manage this disease and the severe pain she endures, and the surgeries that she took over 16 weeks off of work to heal from were unsuccessful. Zia is a young single mother of her 7 year old sweet boy, a business owner between two jobs supporting her son and her life as a new independent homeowner both as a piercer and a photographer, and works tirelessly to make her clients (and those in her life) feel safe, seen, loved, and cared for.
After the devastating news that Zia had almost no options remaining, she was given a glimpse of hope by a specialist in New York City that promised the ability to rid her body of endometriosis, restore her fertility, her hormonal function, and most importantly- give her life back to her- with a less than 2% chance of reoccurrence.
The surgery was quoted at $45k, and Zia became eligible for a pilot program that reduced that cost to $12k- not including consult fees, pre-operative testing, travel fees, child care during recovery, and of course, extensive time off of work. We’d like to make it possible for her to have this surgery and raise enough to cover just the cost of the surgery itself.
As you all know, we hold fundraisers several times annually to support our local animal rescues. This time, we are planning to organize a fundraiser for Zia, but for now in the meantime, Zia’s raising money this Friday on her birthday to put towards her surgery, and offering a BOGO $30 sale with 30% off of all solid gold- or $60 Get What You Roll piercings.
Zia spends all of her time and energy radiating love for everyone that passes through, and we’re asking that we show her that we care as much about her as she’s cared for us.
