Heart health can involve more than lifestyle.
Genetics matter, too.

Hear from Artrish Jefferson,MD,MHS, Cardiologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, on why conversations about hereditary amyloidosis are especially important for Black women and their families.

On October 26, World Amyloidosis Day, GirlTrek, in collaboration with the Amyloidosis Research Consortium (ARC), will host The Story We Inherited: Understanding V122I Hereditary ATTR Amyloidosis.

Join Dr. Jefferson and fellow panelists as we explore inherited health risks, the importance of awareness, and how these conversations can help families make more informed decisions about their health.

Word of God Church and Ministries Health & Wellness Fair!

Julie and I had a great time sharing GirlTREK and speaking to members. We are looking forward to having a crew at Trekker, Nicole’s Faith Community.

We had line dancing and fellowship throughout the afternoon.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer at Camden Yards 2026! Got in 2 miles for the cause! Wonderful meeting Trekkers from Laurel, MD!

To all survivors thank you ladies for never giving up and fighting! May you continue to be happy, healthy and blessed!

To those we have lost, we walk in your honor and we remember you and we are lifting you up and saying your names.

Hello GirlTREK! Meet Tisha, a patient advocate living with ATTR-PN (hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis with polyneuropathy).

Tisha will join us and ARC alongside other panelists to share her journey, what has helped her along the way, and why it’s so important for women to be part of the hereditary amyloidosis conversation.

Hereditary amyloidosis remains underrecognized in Black communities, and women can face longer paths to diagnosis. Bringing these experiences into the conversation is an important part of raising awareness and helping families better understand inherited health risks.

On October 26, World Amyloidosis Day, join us for The Story We Inherited: Understanding V122I Hereditary ATTR Amyloidosis.

This is We Want Power month 🖤

We’re walking for our vote. For our neighbors’ registration. For every woman who shows up at the polls, together, the way our foremothers showed up for us.

Fill in the blank, download the graphic & share who you’re walking for. Then take a walk, check your registration, make a voting plan, invite a sister and log it in The Underground App.

Every step is a step toward the polls. October 1–31. Search GirlTREK in the App Store or Google Play to join us.

In September, we dedicated every walk to the caregivers.

The mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and sister-friends who show up. The ones who pour into everyone else first and themselves last. We walked for them and we’re making sure they get some of that care poured back.

Who did you walk for? Share below.

This month GirlTREK is dedicating our walks to justice-impacted women.

This month, I am walking for** Latequa Golson**, she’s also known as **Tiki**.

Tiki, who has allowed me to share her story and walk in her honor.

Tiki was raised by her wise grandmother and has **walked **through immense loss—grieving her mother, her grandmother, and the tragic loss of her husband to gun violence. Yet, through every challenge, she continues to walk forward, and her resilience shines through. She works tirelessly as an advocate for her incarcerated sibling, and guided by faith, prayer, and recovery, she has earned a spot on the Dean’s List **twice** while working towards her HR Management degree. Today, Tiki uses her story and compassion to uplift, support, and bring hope to others facing deep pain. It is my true honor to walk this month for my sister **Tiki**.
