Power out after a fall storm? Your stairlift still gets you upstairs. Here's why, plus what to know before you call.

Modern stairlifts run on rechargeable batteries that charge at the parking points, so the lift keeps working through an outage. Handy in a Michigan October.

Straight or curved? Count the turns.
• Straight stairs, no turns: the most common install and the quickest. Usually done the same day.
• Turns, winders or a landing: a curved stairlift rides on a custom rail built for your exact staircase. We measure on site first, then come back to install once the rail is made.

Will a 60-inch shower make it through your bathroom door? Here's why this one comes in five pieces.

Pulling out a 60-inch tub? A 60 x 30 shower base drops into the same footprint. Here's how to pick the right one.

1. Threshold. Curbless if anyone uses a walker or wheelchair, or you're just done stepping over things. Our 60 x 30 barrier-free base has a 1-inch beveled entry. Prefer a curb to hold water? Options run 2.5, 4 and 5 inches.
2. Drain. Stand facing the tub and note which side the drain is on. Left, right and center options let you keep the plumbing where it is.
3. Seat. Want to sit while you shower? One 60 x 30 base has a molded seat (with a 5-inch curb), or add a wall-mounted seat later.
