At Hey Black Dad our mission is To positively impact Maternal Health Via Paternal Preparation and Education.
Today, I’m honored to share that Hey Black Dad has been selected as one of just 15 organizations across New Jersey to receive funding in support of this mission via the NJMIHIA G.L.O.W. Grant.
Funds from this grant will support a series of Hey Black Dad’s “Fathers Forward” programming. To sum the pillars of this initiative into three words it would be to Gather, Inform, and Educate.
We will gather fathers to better understand their experiences as they prepare for fatherhood, creating space for honest conversations and shared learning.
We will inform birth workers and maternal health professionals about meaningful ways to better include, prepare, and support fathers throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.
And we will educate fathers by developing what we believe will be the first curriculum of its kind designed specifically to prepare dads to confidently support a breastfeeding mother.
We are deeply grateful to New Jersey Maternal & Infant Health Innovation Authority (NJMIHIA) for recognizing the importance of this work in fathers and investing in Hey Black Dad’s vision.
And to the fathers, the mothers, the birthworkers, healthcare professionals, community organizations, funders, partners, and friends who have encouraged and supported along the way, thank you.
There is still so much work to do.
But today, we are taking a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come and to share that Hey Black Dad’s is MOVING FORWARD! Official New Jersey Maternal & Infant Health Innovation Authority Press Release in Bio.
