🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Josh 🌟

Josh has been a valued member of the Sidney Walmart team since March 2025, and he has certainly learned his way around the store! 💙💚

Josh is pictured down-stacking pallets in the dairy cooler, but that’s just one of the many responsibilities he takes on during his workday. He also down-stacks merchandise in Home Goods and General Merchandise, stocks shelves in Home Goods, and pulls and stocks dry grocery items. 🛒📦

That kind of versatility requires organization, attention to detail, responsibility, stamina, and the ability to learn and complete a variety of tasks. Josh continues to demonstrate those skills while contributing as a member of the Walmart team.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we celebrate stories like Josh’s because they show what inclusive employment is all about: people having the opportunity to use their abilities, grow their skills, contribute to a workplace, earn a paycheck, and be a valued member of a team.

More than a year and a half into his Walmart journey, Josh continues to show up and get the job done. 👏

Keep up the great work, Josh! 🌟

🥐🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Larenzo, Robert & Devin 🌟🥐

Sometimes building employment skills starts with something as simple as a bakery box!

Through RT’s Vocational Habilitation program, Larenzo, Robert, and Devin recently volunteered with Troy Main Street, helping fold bakery boxes for Bakehouse.

It may look like a simple task, but getting every fold just right takes patience, attention to detail, fine motor skills, following directions, focus, and consistency. These are all skills that can carry over into the workplace. 💼

The group worked hard to make sure each box was folded correctly and ready to use, while also providing a helping hand to a community partner.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re highlighting not only employment successes, but also the experiences that help people discover their strengths, practice workplace skills, build confidence, and prepare for future employment opportunities.

Great job, Larenzo, Robert, and Devin! 👏💙💚

🌟 NDEAM Student Spotlight: Nick 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating students who are gaining real-world experience and developing the skills that can prepare them for future employment! 💼

Meet Nick!

Nick is a student participating in the Upper Valley Career Center Launch program, with RT providing employment services and support as he gains hands-on work experience in the community.

Nick is assisting Central Supply at VanCrest, where he helps distribute medical supplies and restock B-boxes in the tunnel. These responsibilities give him the opportunity to experience what it means to contribute to a team and complete important workplace tasks.

And that’s exactly what Nick is doing, putting teamwork into action! 🌟

As Nick works alongside other Launch interns, he is strengthening essential employment skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, following directions, and responsibility.

NDEAM reminds us that preparing for employment begins with opportunities to learn, practice, discover strengths, and experience the workplace firsthand.

Great job, Nick! We’re proud to be part of your employment journey! 💙💚

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Building Skills for the Workplace 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re highlighting the many ways individuals at RT are developing skills that can support their current and future employment goals. 💼

Devin and Marissa’s Vocational Habilitation group recently spent time learning about the meaning and importance of Labor Day and the role workers play in our communities. They also completed a skills packet designed to challenge them to think, problem-solve, and work through different situations. 📚💡

Activities like this have a bigger purpose! Critical thinking, problem-solving, following directions, decision-making, and completing tasks independently are all skills that can carry over into the workplace.

At RT, Vocational Habilitation is about creating opportunities to learn, practice, grow, and build skills that can help prepare individuals for meaningful community employment.

NDEAM reminds us that the path to employment doesn't begin with the first day on the job. It begins by recognizing strengths, developing skills, building confidence, and creating opportunities to succeed. 💙💚

Great work, Devin and Marissa!

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Emma 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating employees who are putting their skills to work and making meaningful contributions throughout our community! 💼

Meet Emma! 💙💚

Every Friday, Emma works at the I-75 Northbound Rest Area through RT’s Group Employment Support (GES) services. Group Employment Support provides opportunities for individuals to work in integrated community settings while receiving the support they need to be successful on the job.

Emma plays an important role in keeping the rest area clean, safe, and welcoming for the thousands of travelers who pass through. Her responsibilities include cleaning restrooms and the lobby and picking up litter from sidewalks and parking lots.

Emma consistently follows instructions, stays focused on her responsibilities, and completes her work efficiently. Those are valuable skills in any workplace and Emma puts them into action every Friday! 🌟

Of course, sometimes work comes with an unexpected surprise! While searching the grounds for litter, Emma discovered a geocache. 😊

NDEAM is about recognizing the skills, talents, work ethic, and contributions of people with disabilities in our workforce. Through services like Group Employment Support, RT helps create opportunities for individuals to build employment skills, earn a paycheck, contribute to their workplace, and experience the value of meaningful employment.

Great work, Emma! We’re proud to have you on the team! 👏

🏖️🎨 Fun, creativity, and sensory exploration filled Chugach’s day!

Members of Chugach stayed busy with a beach ball toss, sensory play, and making their very own coasters! 🙌

From getting active and working on coordination to exploring different sensory experiences and showing off their creativity, the group had plenty of opportunities to learn, engage, and have fun together. ❤️

Great job, Chugach!

♻️🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Jason & Larenzo 🌟♻️

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating employees who put their skills to work while providing valuable services throughout our community!

Meet Jason and Larenzo! 💙💚

Jason and Larenzo work together on RT’s Thursday recycling route through Group Employment Support (GES). As they visit local businesses, they are responsible for collecting full recycling bins, helping load them for transport, and replacing them with empty bins so each business is ready to keep recycling.

And these two know how to get the job done as a team! 👏

Throughout their route, Jason and Larenzo demonstrate teamwork, communication, responsibility, organization, and cooperation as they work together to complete each stop.

NDEAM is a time to recognize the many skills and contributions people with disabilities bring to the workforce. Through Group Employment Support, employees like Jason and Larenzo have opportunities to work, earn a paycheck, build employment skills, and provide a valuable service to businesses in their community.

Great teamwork, Jason and Larenzo! Thank you for helping keep our community recycling moving! ♻️💪

🌟 NDEAM Student Spotlight: Hayden 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating students who are gaining hands-on experience today while building the skills they’ll use in the workforce tomorrow! 💼

Meet Hayden!

Hayden is a student participating in the Upper Valley Career Center Launch program, with RT providing employment services and support as he explores the world of work and develops valuable job skills in the community.

Hayden has been busy assisting Central Supply at VanCrest, where he uses a pushcart to distribute medical supplies throughout the facility. He is responsible for making sure boxes reach the correct locations and carefully unloading the supplies when he arrives.

With every delivery, Hayden is practicing skills that translate to so many different workplaces: organization, attention to detail, following directions, responsibility, and completing tasks accurately. 🌟

Experiences like these give students an opportunity to learn what it means to be part of a workplace, discover their strengths, and build confidence as they prepare for future employment.

That’s something worth celebrating during NDEAM!

Great job, Hayden! We’re proud to be part of your employment journey. 💙💚

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Billy 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating employees who bring their skills, personalities, and talents to workplaces throughout our community!

Meet Billy! 💙💚

Every Thursday, Billy works at Stull Woodworks through RT Industries’ Group Employment Support (GES) services. Billy has an important job — sweeping sawdust from around the workstations and machines and helping keep the work areas clean and ready for the team. 🧹🪵

But if you ask the people at Stull Woodworks, Billy brings something else to work every Thursday: connection.

Billy makes a point to say hello when he arrives and goodbye before he leaves. He remembers many of his coworkers’ birthdays, knows their favorite football teams, and loves catching up about the latest games. 🏈

Those relationships matter.

NDEAM is about recognizing everything people with disabilities contribute to the workforce and that goes far beyond completing a list of job duties. Being dependable, building relationships, communicating with coworkers, and being part of a workplace community are all part of meaningful employment.

Billy isn't just someone who comes in every Thursday to complete a job. He's part of the Stull Woodworks team. 🌟

Great work, Billy! We love seeing the relationships you've built and the difference you make each week.

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Teamwork on I-75! 🌟

Meet Teresa, Jessie, Amanda, Jamie, Billy, and Emma, all members of RT’s Group Employment Support (GES) mobile work crew! 💙💚

This hardworking team helps keep the I-75 Northbound Rest Area clean, welcoming, and ready for the many travelers who stop throughout the day. On this particular day, the crew was hard at work picking up litter throughout the parking lot and grounds. 🧹

Their responsibilities don't stop outside! The mobile work crew helps maintain the rest area by cleaning and mopping inside the building, keeping the grounds and parking areas free of litter, and making sure visitors have a clean and welcoming place to take a break during their travels.

And part of being in a community workplace is interacting with the people around you! Crew members also have opportunities to greet travelers who stop to see the beautiful rest area, stretch their legs, and relax before continuing their drive. 🚗

Through Group Employment Support, employees work together while strengthening skills such as teamwork, responsibility, communication, following instructions, and completing job duties safely and efficiently.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we're proud to recognize employees like Teresa, Jessie, Amanda, Jamie, Billy, and Emma who show up, work hard, and provide an important service to our community and its visitors.

Great job, team! 👏🌟
