Today I got to wear a different shirt at work. Many know Folds of Honor is a special organization to me. I am fortunate enough and graceful to be on the Patriot Board for the Iowa Chapter and we are blessed at Hawkeye Medical Services to have the opportunity to sponsor them.

Today we had our Scheels Folds of Honor Iowa Ruck of Remembrance presented by Baker Group and 515 Ruck Club. We had a great turnout and amazing ceremony. I even got to spend time with Jeff, one of our supervisors and Abby our CMO (Chief Morale Officer)!!

For those who don’t know, Folds of Honor provides scholarships to family members of fallen and disabled military and first responders. This organization hits me personally. After 20 years in the fire service (16 years on the Des Moines Fire Department) and 3 shoulder surgeries I ended up leaving the job with a disability retirement.

Knowing that there are organizations like this that are there to help support my family and the families of so many others is a blessing!!

Being able to give a little for some who gave all is a small price to pay. We have many events planned to help raise money for Iowa families. If you’re interested in info on how you can help, feel free to reach out.

We always preach about how we have the best team a company could ask for. Last night among many others proved that. Our crews were providing medical coverage at an event in Des Moines and witnessed a cardiac arrest. Prior to the fire department arriving, they were able to get the person out of cardiac arrest. Des Moines Firefighters quickly arrived and it was a smooth transition of care. With the quick response of our team and the expertise DMFD had with their crews, this person has the best chance for a positive outcome. So proud of our Hawkeye Medical Team and DMFD!!
