Exceptional Training for Serving God through Medicine

Our 2026-2027 Global Health Fellow Dr. Sandra Hershberger and her husband Mark have arrived in Papua New Guinea! There, Dr. Hershberger will be training with In His Image Family Medicine Residency alumnus Dr. Mark Crouch and the team at Nazarene General Hospital in Kudjip for three months.

This overseas rotation is one of two that the Hershbergers will take part in this academic year to help them explore and prepare for long-term medical missions. We’re excited to walk alongside the Hershbergers as they pursue God’s calling in the journey ahead!

It’s an OB party! PGY2 residents in our Maternal Health Track joined faculty and alumni at the AAFP’s 2026 Family-Centered Pregnancy Care Conference. Between conference sessions, they even found time to watch the Cardinals game.⚾

Maternal Health is one of our three areas of concentration, along with Behavioral Medicine and Missions, that allow residents to dive deeper into the fields they are passionate about. Each includes specific curricular components, a longitudinal experience plan, and mentorship from a dedicated faculty coordinator. Check out our website to learn more.

Please join us in celebrating the graduation of our inaugural Global Health Fellow Dr. Kaleigh Winters!

We are so thankful to Dr. Winters and her husband Andrew who spent the year learning and serving in Papua New Guinea, Malawi, and underserved communities in Oklahoma.

The Winters share these reflections from their time:

"As our time is drawing near to the end - we can’t help but reflect on the year we had, and the gratitude we feel for every moment... The real center point of this year was both the people and places we shared and - the One who created them.

"To the people in Papua New Guinea, Malawi, and Oklahoma who opened up their lives, homes, hospitals, country and culture with us - we are so grateful. We have a greater experience and understanding of community, connectedness, sacrifice, and faith than we had before. (We also had some of the best pineapple on planet earth - and we look forward to the day we can have it again!)

"In addition to the people & places that made this year beautiful - we feel grateful, that the God who created these people and places - has allowed us to participate with Him in the work He is already doing around the world. What a gift that is."
