I'm sorry.

I need to apologize to you. After a profound one-on-one session with a client, it became clear that there may have been some confusion in my communication regarding the essence of "A Woman for All Seasons."

Our work together is not about the physical symptoms of menopause. It is about understanding the depths of our emotions - why we may feel anger, disconnection, sadness, or unhappiness during this transformative phase of life. How long they have been stuck and how to work with them ....to use them to our benefit.

This is a time where we no longer feel the need to remain silent or submissive, where prioritizing our own happiness is just as important as caring for others. It is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, where we embrace our vulnerabilities and seek positive change.

I acknowledge that I may not have fully conveyed the true essence of our shared journey. My passion for this project stems from the belief that it has the power to ignite transformation in our lives. It is not about grievances but about uniting as a community of women with a shared aspiration for joy and understanding.

Weaponized Words

“The term menopause came to be before science knew hormones existed. It was never meant to signify a pause. It was invented by a man who felt women should cover their arms and not wear blush - whose book on the subject contributed nothing valuable to the body of knowledge except it left a term that ties women forever to menstruation. The word menopause was then weaponized by the pharmaceutical industry and transformed from troublesome phase of life into a lifelong disease that affected every woman. And just just any disease, the worst kind of disease - one that made women undesirable to men” The Menopause Manifesto by Dr. Jen Gunter

Did you know that menopause isn't viewed the same in all cultures? While women in the United States have been ensnared under the umbrella of patriarchal medical care for decades, other countries have escaped the clutches of false beliefs and teachings about this natural transition.

It wasn't until 1849 that Elizabeth Blackwell shattered the glass ceiling, becoming the first woman in the United States to be granted an MD degree. That's ONLY 175 years ago. No wonder we still grapple with so much misinformation about our bodies and how to master all our cycles of life.

But here's where the narrative shifts: other cultures have different terms that don't emphasize the myth that menopause is a disease or that something is inherently wrong with us. For example, the Dutch word "overgang" means "passing way" or "road from A to B." The Finnish term "vaihdevuodet" means "change of year." And the list goes on.

It's time to reclaim the narrative. It's time to break free from the chains of misinformation and silence surrounding menopause. It's time to embrace this transition for what it truly is: a passage to power.
