How Do ABA Teams Know When a Strategy Is Working?
In ABA, data helps us understand whether what we are doing is making a meaningful difference.
Throughout therapy, clinicians continuously collect and review data to understand a child’s progress. This allows the team to see when skills are developing, identify when progress may have slowed, and make informed changes to teaching strategies when needed.
Data also helps ensure that treatment remains individualized. Rather than assuming an approach is working, clinicians can evaluate its effectiveness and adjust based on how each child is responding.
Combined with careful observation, clinical expertise, and collaboration with families, data helps guide decisions and keeps treatment focused on meaningful progress for the child.
