Excel Anesthesia Excel Anesthesia LLC is a CRNA and Physician owned partnership that provides all models of anesthesia services to Kansas City and the surrounding areas.

Excel Anesthesia began in 1996 as “Mid-America Anesthesia Care, PA”, or 'MAC’. MAC began as a single practitioner anesthesia company. A growing need for practitioners in the under-served areas and smaller surgery centers bordering Kansas City soon became apparent and propagated the vision of promoting the practice of independent CRNAs. The formation of several eye surgery centers in the area prompted MAC to select CRNAs with specialty training in this field to provide quality service to these highly specialized facilities. Continuing with the vision, MAC began to provide CRNAs to three hospitals in Leavenworth, Kansas. These three hospitals were instrumental in allowing the CRNAs to maintain the skills and hospital privileges that were imperative for the successful maintenance of a holistic anesthesia practice. All forms of surgery, with the exception of complicated neuro and heart, were and continue to be done in these three hospitals. In 1997, MAC changed its name to “Leavenworth Anesthesia, PA”, (LAPA). Throughout the years, LAPA increased the business to include five hospitals and five surgery centers with emphasis on orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, plastics, basic neurosurgery and ophthalmology. Additionally, LAPA has staffed these facilities with as many as twentyfour independent contracted CRNAs. With the increasing growth of LAPA, it became clear that, in order to continue expanding and promoting the CRNA practice, the company needed to evolve. CRNAs with the same vision and commitment needed to have a vested interest in the future of the company. In October of 2006, Jean Covillo, CRNA, and partners joined together to form Excel Anesthesia, PA. Today, this company continues to manage all the anesthesia contracts previously held by LAPA. In addition to this, Excel Anesthesia continues with its expansion of practice, uniquely designed to support CRNAs who desire to work independently and autonomously. Regardless of which name the facilities, hospitals, physicians, and staff remember, they know and remember our name is synonymous with excellence in anesthesia – making our new name, “Excel Anesthesia”, the natural choice.
