📅 Annual skin checks can be conducted for people of any age
📅 Women 50+ should start receiving bone density tests every five years

Vaccines save 4-5 million lives globally every year. Start the year off right by making sure you're up to date with recommended vaccines. It’s easy to forget or be unsure which vaccines are right for you or a loved one; check out this resource by the CDC on vaccines recommended by age! https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/by-age/index.html

Some important vaccines to keep in mind:
💉11-12 year olds should have two doses of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
💉19-59 year olds are recommended to have the hepatitis B vaccine
💉50+ year olds should receive two doses of the shingles vaccine
💉Td or Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) shots should be received every 10 years

For most people, health insurance deductibles reset in January. The majority of insurance plans fully cover the cost of preventative care like recommended vaccines and certain screenings, but there are plenty of other costs that will go toward your deductible. Triage Cancer has this great quick guide to health insurance: https://triagecancer.org/quick-guides/health-insurance-basics

Here are some things to check and keep in mind as you enter 2025!
✅Review your renewal to see if any of your benefits have changed.
✅Make sure your providers are still in network.
✅Double check to see if your prescriptions are still covered. Name brands may not be covered, but generic versions can be!
✅Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) may be options for you and can help make paying for care easier.

Don’t think of healthcare as a resolution when it’s a requirement!

The holidays can bring many emotions: joy, sadness, nostalgia, and even stress. Sometimes, it’s hard to give ourselves permission to feel all of it!

Especially during the holidays, it’s okay to feel overwhelmed, need support, and accept help. Sometimes, the best way to navigate the season is by letting yourself feel and finding ways to care for yourself along the way.

Family caregivers, we understand the emotional toll caregiving takes.

Caring for someone else often means putting yourself last, but if we don’t care for ourselves, we won’t be able to care for those who need us. As a caregiver, emotions can vary day to day, sometimes even hour to hour. The burnout rate for caregivers is high; recognizing and managing stressors can help decrease your chances of adverse emotions such as depression, anxiety, irritability, sleeplessness, and anger. This article by AARP outlines tips to manage stress and provides additional resources on where to seek help if you need it. https://www.aarp.org/caregiving/life-balance/info-2019/caregiver-stress-burnout.html
