Beautiful experience guiding gentle stretching and mindfulness at the Ritz the other morning.
Several people came up to me after class sharing that they haven’t done yoga since Covid, or are new to the practice, but want to start up again, or continue with it.
That’s all I could ever hope for!
Peace begins with me…

Happy Tuesday!
Tomorrow I’m teaching a fabulously large group of yogis at the Ritz in Rancho Mirage.
Send me all your good vibes that I guide them towards really sitting in the power of their inner lights of awareness.

Life is amazing.
And then it’s awful.
And then it’s amazing again.
And in between the amazing and awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing,
hold on through the awful,
and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life.
And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.

I decided to detox from social media over the last few weeks and this little experiment has greatly shifted my mindset and deepened my awarenesses. 8 things I uncovered about myself during this break:

1️⃣
𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 to picking up my phone with no reason or intention in mind other than scrolling. It was a habitual act rather than an intentional purpose. I still pick it up and go to mindlessly open social media daily. 😣 Only now, I close it immediately.
2️⃣
As an empath, I feel energy and pick up on peoples’ emotions- from hurt to disgust to outrage. Being enveloped in so much was overwhelming to my spiritual center.
3️⃣
My nervous system was deeply affected. I didn’t realize how much social media has been negatively affecting my health until I took a break.
4️⃣
I missed seeing other people’s kids and lives and pictures. I missed sharing my own kids and life. I DID NOT miss reading everyone’s extremely divisive political views.
5️⃣
I have had more time to myself to be intentional with my actions. I have been reading books more often and studied Italian 20% more each week.
6️⃣
I have found myself calmer and less judgmental to myself and others. I didn’t find myself needing to breathe or lower my blood pressure after reading XYZ on SM.
7️⃣
I was reminded an aspect of living in Costa Rica that I loved- I lived very much in an intentional, self-created bubble; Very mindful of who and what could enter the bubble. Certainly didn’t waste my valuable energy on things or issues that disrupted my peace. The political climate and immense divide in this country is absolutely overwhelming. It seems we have forgotten that we belong to each other- like the old Native American proverb that we did not weave the web of life- we are merely strands in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
8️⃣
And perhaps my favorite awareness-as I teach my youth yogis-
Pᴇᴀᴄᴇ Bᴇɢɪɴs Wɪᴛʜ Mᴇ.
If we want to change the world, we have to change ourselves. It all starts within.

I highly recommend a social media detox and reset. And I’m sending loving light to each of you and yours.

We rescued her in July 2021, where she was found living on the streets in Mexico with her little tail chopped off. 🥲
