Happy New Year, friends!

The verses below from Isaiah 43 are perfect to reflect on as we prepare to begin a new year! All of us have things that we have to leave in 2023 - it’s ancient history! And we all need to look ahead into 2024 expectant for the new things God is going to do!

As my pastor said this morning, “2024 can be your best year IF it’s your best year SPIRITUALLY!”

The first small step of 2024 is to fully surrender our lives to Jesus. I promise that is the best step you can take toward complete wellness.

Merry Christmas! May today and everyday be filled with love, joy, peace, and hope! For today a savior is born! ❤️

I shared with you the other day about my struggle with sciatica. The physical pain is real. The changes I need to make in my lifestyle is real. But you know what else is real? The enemy known as Satan and he is also at the root of my pain.

I’ve experienced so much of God’s goodness over the last few months and grown deeper in relationship with Jesus. The enemy doesn’t like that so he found a weakness and took advantage. And I have fought back the only way I know how to- worship.

Worshipping God is the only way to defeat the enemy. Now I’m not saying I didn’t struggle at first. And there are moments that I haven’t gotten it right. But when I sang a song of worship or just played worship music on my phone, the pain became more bearable and I could feel God’s presence.

Whether you are in physical pain or struggling with mental or emotional health, I promise worship will help.

I’d love to know your favorite worship song! Comment below so we can get ideas for a new playlist! Mine is in the comments.

The last two weeks have proved very challenging as I came down with a virus followed immediately by sciatica. The pain was unbearable at times. But I found an amazing chiropractor and am on the way to feeling better!

Want to know what caused the sciatica? Inflammation in my back that caused a pinched nerve. Short term solutions involve sitting with an ice pack for 20 minutes every 2 hours and moving around. Long term solutions to prevent future flare ups involves reducing inflammation through my diet. I didn’t even realize how much junk I had allowed back in my pantry. Somewhere along the way, there was a shift in my mindset and I am paying for it big time!

So, I’m starting small. Like the name of this page, I’m now taking small steps to wellness. Will you join me?

Tuscan Chicken and spaghetti squash is a nice, light and easy meal for the day after Thanksgiving. Recipe in the comments.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I encourage you to be aware tomorrow. Be aware of the smells of your favorite foods. Be aware of the memories being made. As you begin eating, be aware of any memories that arise connecting you to that specific food. Be aware and enjoy the moment.

Beware of shaming thoughts that come to steal the joy of eating a meal you enjoy with people you love.

Be aware = life
Beware = fear

Choose life and enjoy all the beautiful things God has given you!

Proverbs 1:7 reminds us that God is the source of all wisdom and knowledge and we are foolish to seek wisdom anywhere else. There is a huge difference between Godly wisdom and worldly wisdom! Godly wisdom always leads to life - full, abundant life! If you want to be well in body, mind, and spirit, you must start with God!

The holiday season is upon us. For many of us, this is a joyous season full of love and hope. But for others, this season is the opposite. Family relationships are strained or the recent loss of a family member can bring stress and sadness. I want to acknowledge the mix of emotions and remind you that the Lord is near! He loves you and wants all good things for you!

As we begin to take small steps toward wellness, let’s start by seeking the Lord. Don’t overthink or overcomplicate what that means. Simply ask for wisdom and then be still and listen. God will answer.

I know I’ve been MIA for awhile. God has definitely been working on my heart and it’s been a crazy good season! I’ll update more on that in the coming days.

Another life update: I’m homeschooling now. Most days we love it!😂 we decided to experiment with a fall garden and it has not disappointed! It’s amazing that having fresh produce can inspire you to cook! We’ve enjoyed lots of kale/collard greens, some cabbage and fresh broccoli. I just picked our first head of cauliflower today. I’ll share some meal plans and recipes soon!

God is good all the time and all the time God is good y’all!❤️

God knows what we need when we need it.

I had my alarm set to workout this morning because we had plans for this evening. Couldn’t pull myself out of bed😴 Oh well! Guess I don’t need to workout today🤷🏻‍♀️

Get a text just as I arrived home from work that our plans were cancelled. Great! I can get a workout in this evening!

Piddled a little around the house, made dinner, checked in on family. Thought I’d take a walk with a podcast - it’s getting too dark🙄 Alright, I’ll find a workout on RevWellTV.

WOW did God know what I needed! I didn’t need this message this morning but I certainly needed it this evening! And He made a way for me to get it when I needed it!

We are enjoying spring break in Atlanta this year. Our condo is literally in the heart of the city which if full of lights and noise - the complete opposite of my normal country life. But this morning I rose early and headed across the street to the Centennial Olympic park to walk and found this quiet, peaceful space in the midst of a busy and loud city.

I’m using the Revelation Wellness - Healthy & Whole 7 day mini challenge to prepare my heart for Resurrection Sunday listening to teaching and studying the seven “I AM” statements of Jesus. There’s a 35-40 minute podcast designed to listen to while moving (walking, running, cycling or whatever moves you) and a corresponding Bible study to go a little deeper.

I’m on day four and may not get through all
7 before Easter but man, these have been amazing and challenging. The Spirit is convicting and revealing things I need in this season. It’s so good y’all!

Many of you may know Elijah and I are headed on mission in Belize this summer. And I realize I want/need to be in better shape to fully enjoy this experience. But it’s not about being in shape (like a smaller clothing size), it’s about being in shape to serve, honor, and glorify God! When I walked this morning I intentionally left my Fitbit back in the condo. It’s not about a calorie burn or number of steps. It’s about leaning into Jesus, fixing my face on Him, and trusting Him for it all! He will supply my every need and desire (as long as my desires align with His)!

Small steps toward wellness begin with Jesus, first and foremost!

I intended to start getting up early and working out at least twice a week at the end of January after 21 Days of Prayer (how my church starts the year). But sickness kept me away until today.

But I also needed a shift in mindset. See, if this were just a workout I wouldn’t stick with it. There has to be a reason beyond just wanting to get in better shape. God has opened the door for my son and I to go on a Mission experience in Belize this summer. We are very excited and expectant for what God is going to do in us and through us.

These workouts are no longer about me just getting in better shape physically. My mindset is shifting to realize I need to be in better shape physically, mentally, and spiritually so I may serve others better. This isn’t about me. It’s about being ready - prepared to serve others and serve them well.

Here’s a short strength workout that’s perfect for a busy morning! You can find it in the new Revelation Wellness App.

It’s been awhile. It’s been a crazy start to 2023. It’s been . . . Good and bad.

There has been sickness. Not a simple cold or sinus infection, but Covid (long Covid for Craig) and bronchitis followed by another sinus infection (for me). There have been challenges at work and school. It’s been exhausting. It could be very easy for me to focus on these things and get stuck. Honestly, I’ve been stuck.

But there has also been joy and excitement! Eli and I are going on a mission experience in Belize this summer! And the amount of support that’s been shown to us has been amazing! God is moving and working despite the sickness and challenges!

Today I moved my body for the first time this year (more than just walking the dog). And it was GOOD! And God worked things out that I would push play on a workout focused on Matthew 28:19 and being sent/called to go.

God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
