When I sent a Rumi excerpt to my email list the other day, just before I hit "send" I thought, "Hmm. Maybe this isn't the best idea. What if someone takes some kind of odd meaning from it and is offended? What if people unsubscribe because they don't get why poetry belongs with awakening eros?"
Thankfully I've travelled around the sun enough times now to also think...
"You know what, anyone who doesn't get it about Rumi (or Mary Oliver) probably isn't the best fit for my flavor of eros and coaching, so today when I hit send, I wish them all good things as they unsubscribe."
Cuz here's the thing: my very first website I built for my coaching business (almost THIRTY FRIGGIN' YEARS AGO!) opened with these words:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" ~Mary Oliver
Over the years as I saw others adopt that quote for their taglines and such, I felt smug about being first (and extra-judgemental about the ones who didn't bother to get the quote right, muddling the words).
Some of you were there with me in those waaaayyy back years. Thank you, precious one, for sticking around! 🤗 🤗 🤗
Anyway, the point...
is that poetry has been with me for the long haul, and doesn't appear to be going anywhere.
In fact, I have three heart-stopping poems cued up for future newsletters. They feel tumescent as they wait in line for their turn to be shared with you, exactly like the delicious tugging pull towards climax.
Inhale. Exhale. Smile big.
The sensual, slow wait...
is worth it. ✨
(and if you want in on those newsletters, DM me and I'm happy to share!)
