This World Heart Day, we celebrate every child who has received the gift of a new heart and recommit ourselves to helping that heart last a lifetime.

For children facing end-stage heart failure, a heart transplant can offer a second chance at life. But transplantation is not a cure. Children and their families continue to face challenges long after surgery, from ongoing medical care and frequent appointments to the financial and emotional realities of the transplant journey.

That is why Enduring Hearts is committed to supporting families both through groundbreaking research and meaningful family support.

Our Road to Recovery and Feed the Heart programs help ease some of the everyday burdens families face while caring for a child with a transplanted heart. Road to Recovery provides fuel assistance to help families travel to transplant centers, follow-up appointments, and critical medical care, while Feed the Heart provides assistance for meals and other essential needs. Because no family should have to choose between putting food on the table and getting their child the care they need.

At the same time, we continue investing in innovative pediatric heart transplant research focused on helping transplanted hearts last longer and giving children the opportunity to grow, thrive, and experience more of life’s milestones.

Today, your support helps fund both lifesaving research and critical family assistance programs for pediatric heart transplant families.

When a child is facing a heart transplant, families should be focused on one thing: being there for their child.

They shouldn’t have to choose between putting food on the table and covering the unexpected costs that come with weeks or months of hospital care.

Through Road to Recovery and Feed the Heart, Enduring Hearts is helping pediatric heart transplant families with essential needs like fuel and food during some of the most challenging moments of their journey.

Supporting children means supporting the families standing beside them. ❤️

❤️ DID YOU KNOW?

A heart transplant can give a child a second chance at life but transplantation is not a cure.

Children who receive heart transplants can still face rejection, cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), and other complications that can threaten the long-term health of their new heart.

That’s why research matters.

Since 2013, Enduring Hearts has invested more than $11 million in pediatric heart transplant research, funding 79 research grants at 43 institutions around the world.

Every study brings us closer to our ultimate goal: helping every child’s transplanted heart last a lifetime. ❤️
