Today reported on how the state of California put off a vote on the Toxic-Free Cosmetics Act (AB 495) because they realized they would not have the votes needed for it to pass. ⁣

The bill defines a “toxic 20” list of potentially harmful ingredients and prohibits their use in personal-care goods. This is by no means a radical move, many countries around the world have already banned these products, such as the EU, Switzerland and India to name a few, but the powerful cosmetic industry claims this as another example of “overreach”. (1) SMH. ⁣

Included in this list is lead, mercury, formaldehyde, parabens and SLS . This should have been a no brainer, except now these ingredients will continue to lurk around in our personal care products and we will knowingly and unknowingly slather carcinogens, hormone disrupters and skin irritants on our skin and hair. ⁣
⁣
Read about the top ingredients to avoid and how the industry has us fooled into thinking what we’re using is “all natural”. We must be our own advocates and read the labels before purchasing. ⁣
