Early registration for the MATADOC XLII International (Online) Training opens tomorrow, Tuesday August 26 until September 7. Regular registration closes October 5. The training takes place on November 2, 9, and 16, 2026, 11.30am - 5pm EST. There are additional asynchronous materials to view before the synchronous training days. For anyone wanting an inperson training, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in London will be holding the XLIII training in February 2027 (details coming soon or see their website for registration).

This afternoon 4-5 pm there will be an international team - from Australia, Ireland, UK and USA - present on music therapy with prolonged disorder of consciousness across the care trajectory - ICU - community care. We will be in the Europa meeting room (the spotlight session room) from 4-5pm. See you there!

MATADOC ###XI in Guangzhou China in May 2026 was a tremendous success with 33 people participating from across China including Hong Kong. Huge thanks to music therapist Queena (Yun) Wen and her FABULOUS team who were awesome and looked after us all at this huge training. Dr. Qiuyou Xie, a leading Chinese neuroscientist in Disorders of Consciousness based at Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University, opened the training, and I was honored with an invitation to be an Academic Advisor for the Music and Brain Science Branch of the Guangdong Neuroscience Society. Shout out to translators Chen Chen and Shaimon Ghu who did an amazing job at translating. It was wonderful to connect with so many professionals interesting in disorders of consciousness – including music therapists, anaesthetists, doctors and educators. We are already talking about another training in China – hopefully for 2028!

I'm looking forward to meeting new colleagues and learning more about disorders of consciousness, and music therapy, in China
