I hope your holiday season is going well and you are finding ways to recharge along the way. I've been pretty quiet in regards to newsletters and social media so I wanted to post an update.

The past 6 months have been filled with pain and physical limitation as I have continued to struggle with my back injury. I've been able to stay in school but I have not been able to work. Eric likely also needs surgery from his mountain bike crash in July and sweet Marty is bravely winning against cancer. We have had to slow down our lives completely in an effort to heal and rest.

As of now, I am still on track to graduate from acupuncture school in June. I am not sure when in that timeline surgery will be scheduled for either of us. Therefore, I won't be scheduling appointments until I am cleared to work or I have had surgery and healed completely.

I hope to return to sending some more regularly scheduled emails and offering at least some digital encouragement, but I'm taking this one day at a time and listening to my body.

If you would like to continue to receive emails from me in the meantime, please DM me so I can add you to my newsletter as I will not be keeping emails directly from Massage Book while I am out of work.

I miss seeing each of you and hope you are doing well.

May your day be filled with loving kindness for yourself and those around you.

It's been quiet over here...so here's a little update. Trying to find the balance of the light in the dark. 🖤🤍

My back injury persists; I'm living in a decent amount of pain. Sweet Marty was diagnosed with cancer and is in treatment. Eric healed from his bike crash but he also lives in pain and we are both likely in need of surgery.

I can't say when I'll be back to offering massage and yoga but as soon as I am you'll hear from me.

Until then I'll try to share some offerings here and there.

May your day today be filled with loving kindness for yourself and those around you.

Greenville friends - anyone interested in adopting this sweet kitten. He is living on an abandoned lot and all his siblings have been adopted. He is loving and just wants snuggles. Let me know and I can connect you with the people caring for him.

October Schedule Update

Hello Everyone!

Sadly I do not have good news yet. I have sincerely missed seeing each of you.

My back injury is healing slowly. Surgery is still a possibility, although I am hoping to avoid it. I am taking my schedule month by month in an effort to be able to offer appointments again as soon as possible. As of now I will not be open for business during the month of October. If that changes I will let you know.

Keep an eye on your inbox for updates.

I look forward to seeing each of you when I am able to return.

May your day today be filled with lovingkindness for yourself and those around you.

Summer Series Week 11:  The Liver

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Liver is seen as the Army General of the body; it provides the smooth flow that the Gall Bladder needs for peaceful, confident decision making.  The Liver is ready to create and execute plans because the internal flow of the body is moving in a way that allows all systems to be ready when needed.

The Liver is easily affected by anger, frustration and resentment.  These emotions can cause stagnation which prevents the free flow needed in the body to operate clearly and with purpose.

Take some time this week to notice what might be blocking your ability to create and execute purposeful planning in your life.  Begin to allow those areas to soften and release.

Summer Series Week 10: The Gall Bladder

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Gall Bladder is responsible for courage and decisiveness.  In order for the Gall Bladder to remain clear and confident in decision making it must avoid stagnation and pent-up emotions.

I love the reminder from the Gall Bladder to experience emotions but to let them flow through us, taking up only the space they need to at the time rather than moving in permanently as stagnation.

Give yourself permission this week to listen to your inner voice and make decisions confidently, with ease and without attachment.

Post: Summer Series Week 9: The SanJiao

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the thorax of the body is seen as its own organ system; three parts of the chest and abdomen, as well as the spaces between muscle and tissue in the body.  Some say the San Jiao is a way of understanding metabolism within the body. It is in charge of regulation and integration of internal environments.

The San Jiao must constantly be flowing and regulating the body as we eat, engage in activities and process emotions.

I love the reminder from the San Jiao that we have the ability to regulate and flow with life and all that we experience. Remind yourself this week, “I flow through phases of life.”

Summer Series Week 8: The Pericardium

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Pericardium is the Heart protector. It is responsible for guarding the heart from the exterior while also providing communication from the Heart to the outside world.  Therefore, the Pericardium assists in connection and social relationships; it is the liaison between the emotions of the Heart and others.

The Pericardium is also associated with joy; when the emotions are in balance there is happiness found in connection.

Take some time this week to connect with your support network and notice the joy they bring to your heart. Remind yourself, “I feel joy through connection with others.”

Fall Schedule Update

Hello Everyone!

I have sincerely missed seeing each of you.

In the words of John Lennon, "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." This was the theme of my summer. Both myself and Eric were injured and life slowed down very quickly.

As of now, I will still be unable to see clients in September. I will update you periodically as things evolve. If you happened to see an opening and scheduled an appointment, it will be cancelled and rescheduled when I can work again.

There is a chance I may see clients at some point in September, so keep an eye on your inbox for updates, however I can't guarantee it right now.

I look forward to seeing each of you when I am able to return.

May your day today be filled with lovingkindness for yourself and those around you.

Summer Series Week 7: The Kidney

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Kidney is the root of the body; it governs reproduction as well as innate characteristics and inner strength.  The will or intention of a person is stored in the Kidney.

Take some time this week to identify and honor what makes you innately you.  What characteristics, intensions and core strengths define you? What is your foundation? Remind yourself, you are innately gifted.

Summer Series Week 6: Urinary Bladder

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Urinary Bladder stores the fluid of the body in reserve, keeps what is needed and releases the rest.

Similar to the Small Intestine it determines what is healthy and can be used by the body and what should be released as waste.

The process of refinement is consistent throughout the digestive process; receiving and separating.

I love this model our body provides for us over and over again; we decide what is beneficial for us and what we can release.  It’s your choice.  Retain what is beneficial and release the rest.

Summer Series Week 5: Small Intestine

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the Small Intestine separates what it receives.  It collects, separates and differentiates.

This week as you receive all of what the world brings your way, stop and consider what you can separate.

Yin and Yang teach us that we can experience two emotions at once; joy and sorrow, anger and acceptance; how can you separate thoughts and experiences into what is beneficial and what can be let go?
