Hi.

I have wanted to re-introduce myself. It’s been a long while now that I have been hiding in the spiritual closet and I only just feel ready to emerge.

You see, I’ve spent quite some time trying to fit myself into the box of shoulds. I should be a high school teacher because that is what I studied and that is what society and my family expect of me. Anything else feels too foreign, too scary, too risky. And so that’s what I did. I stayed in the classroom.

But eventually the whispers would turn into screams, my intuition no longer allowed to be ignored. I had to tune into my true desires- what was calling out to me.

It turned out that the first step in re-discovering myself was leaving my full-time job so that I could stay home with my son. Time is all we have and the ticking clock is more potent than ever as the days have passed into weeks and somehow nine whole months. All I want is to soak up his sweetness and be present for him.

This decision has proven to be a catalyst, launching me closer to who I know on the inside I am meant to be.

So, here I am. Humbly as ever.
Returning once again to my pen and my paper.
Returning once again to my mat and my breath.
This time, while anchoring into my new role as a stay-at-home-mom.
Here.
I am.

It’s so nice to meet you, again.

It has been a while, in what seems like the blink of an eye.

New state, new job, new house, NEW BABY.

I am 25 weeks tomorrow, growing this sweet little boy in my belly.

Evolving along with these shifts is my practice, and I think my purpose, too.

In the meantime I will continue to let it unfold,
I know I am being shown the way

🙏

"The problem with the word patience," said Zen master Suzuki Roshi, "is that it implies we are waiting for something to get better, we are waiting for something good that will come. A more accurate word for this quality is 'constancy,' a capacity to be with what is true moment after moment..."

In the deepest way it understands that what we seek is what we are, and it is always here.

—A Path With Heart, Jack Kornfield

This really spoke to me as I read this morning and I wondered if anyone else might benefit from seeing it today.

We’re always so intent on arriving. At our destination, goal, next step. We count the days, hours, minutes and then when it comes—where are we?

The theme of my cross-country trip so far can be summed up in one word: STAY.

STAY in the moments when it feels hard and it would be easier to be distracted with future planning. I reminded myself again and again to stay present on a 7.2 mile hike with no peak, only the beauty of each step along the path. Once I was headed back so many hikers asked me “Is it worth it?!” And I replied, “It’s not about the destination with this one, the whole thing is worth it!”

I challenged myself to stay present on a climb where my mind wanted to trick me into fear the entire time.

I need to learn to stay present for 59 hours of driving while I have to much to look forward to on the east coast.

It’s a constant practice to stay in each moment but most importantly to stay present in SOLITUDE to learn to tune deeper into my inner whispers.

There were a lot of people who tried to talk me out of doing my trip this way and others who didn’t understand why I was taking my time to get back to my husband and our new home. But the truth is in this one-worded mantra: STAY. It is about learning to enjoy the journey. I don’t want to spend my life so focused on the end result that I forget to notice all of the potential LOVE, BEAUTY, and GOODNESS radiating from every single moment along the way.

the sun‘s whispers grow louder
movement becomes effortless as
my bones tune into the warmth
of our coming summer

golden rays drip from my hair
while the long miles pass by
I will be smiling all the way
back to you

a sweet honey reunion waiting
to illuminate a reality
glowing brighter than we ever
dared to dream

In a few short days I leave on a long journey driving across the country. This sums up my plans, having no real expectations along the way, only to allow myself to SOAK it all in. I hope I can remember this as my mantra and continuously drop back into the present moment when the days get long or difficult.

If you have any podcasts, comedians, playlists or other favorites for long drives please send them my way!

Honor the space between no longer and not yet.
-Nancy Levin

We sold our house on Hidden Grove! It was a test of faith and patience but we are so happy to be on the other side of this challenge and one step closer to our new life in South Carolina.
