This catfish steak recipe goes from prep to plate in 25 minutes—and the fish only needs about 4–5 minutes per side in a hot cast iron skillet.

The coating is a mix of cornmeal and flour with garlic powder, cayenne, smoked paprika, and optional Cajun seasoning. Pat the fish dry, dip in buttermilk, press on the breading, and fry until golden. Let it rest a minute so the crust stays crunchy.

Give your steak at least 5 minutes of rest before slicing—that’s the step that keeps the juices in the meat instead of on the cutting board.

This Blackstone steak recipe uses a simple salt, garlic powder and black pepper rub, then sears ribeye 3–5 minutes per side over medium-high heat. Finish by spooning melted garlic butter and minced garlic over the steak for about a minute.

It’s a quick 20–25 minute cook with a deep crust and juicy center. Get the full recipe and timings.

Vacuum-sealed beef can last up to 2 weeks in the fridge and 3 years in the freezer—if temps stay right.

The guide explains why freshness, fridge/freezer temperature, and bag lamination matter. Keep the fridge below 40°F and freezer at 0°F or below to slow bacterial growth.

Seasoning a charcoal grill isn’t a 10-minute wipe-down: the grates need to bake for about two hours with the lid on.

First, pull the grates, scrub both sides with a wire brush, wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse, and let them dry completely. Coat both sides with a high-smoke-point oil like canola, peanut, or vegetable oil, then wipe off the excess.

On a new grill, coat the inside of the pit too. Preheat 15 minutes, return the grates, and bake for two hours with the top on.

Each cow has only two oyster steaks, so this cut is a rare treat.

Sear it in a screaming-hot cast-iron skillet for 1–2 minutes per side, then finish in a 350°F oven until it hits 135°F for rare or 145°F for medium-rare. Rest 5–10 minutes before serving so the juices redistribute.

Serve with mushroom sauce, and use tongs—not a fork—to avoid puncturing the meat and losing juice.

Martha & Marley Spoon offers more than 40 recipes to choose from each week.

After a month of weekly deliveries, our team liked the sturdy printed recipe cards, and most packaging was easy to recycle. The tradeoff: recipes involve more prep than other meal kits, and some seafood dishes may need skills a new cook hasn’t built yet.

A medium-rare burger hits 130–135°F—well below the USDA's 160°F target for ground meat.

Ground beef can mix meat from multiple parts, so surface bacteria can end up inside the patty. If you want a pink center, start with fresh beef from a trustworthy source, keep raw meat away from ready-to-eat foods, and use a thermometer instead of guessing. Rest the patty 3 minutes after cooking.

Reused charcoal will still burn, but it won't hit the same peak heat — leftover pieces are smaller and sit closer together, so airflow drops.

Save only solid coals: close the lid and vents to starve the fire (skip the water, it rusts the grill), then shake the ash off. If a coal crumbles when you squeeze it, toss it.

To light them, fill your chimney halfway with new charcoal first, then add the used pieces.

Most home meat grinders hand you a 1-pound meat tray. The STX Turboforce 3000 holds 3 pounds — enough to grind a whole pork butt without stopping to reload.

That's one of seven grinders in our 2026 guide. The LEM Big Bite pushes up to 7 pounds per minute with a 5-year warranty and all-metal gears; the Cuisinart MG-100 is the budget pick with simple storage for every attachment.

We break down grind plates, sausage stuffing tubes and who each machine actually suits.

Forgot to thaw the turkey? A 12-pound bird that's still partially frozen needs about 4.5 hours in the oven instead of 3 — roughly 25% longer than a thawed one.

Roast at 325°F, keep the door shut for the first two hours, and season once the legs hit around 100°F. Pull the giblets around the 3-hour mark, then cook until the thigh, wing and thickest part of the breast all reach 165°F. Rest 20 minutes before carving.
