In two hours. September 29, 7:00pm Eastern / 6:00pm Central.

One hour on where your energy actually went — and the answer is that it didn’t go anywhere.

There’s less of it being made. That’s a completely different problem, and it’s the one that can be fixed.

One hour, then questions until they’re done. Nothing gets sold.
You can register any time right up to the start. And if tonight turns into one of those nights, register anyway — the replay goes to everyone.

The link to register is in my bio.

Tonight, September 29 — 7:00pm Eastern / 6:00pm Central.

I’ll tell you where your energy actually went. It didn’t go anywhere — you’re making less of it.

That’s a completely different problem from the one most women have been handed, and it’s the one there’s something to do about.

If you do the math before you say yes to Saturday, this is the hour for it.

One hour, then questions until they’re done. Nothing gets sold.
And the replay comes to everyone who registers — so register anyway, if tonight already looks like a bad night.

Tomorrow night, September 29, 7:00pm Eastern / 6:00pm Central: “I Thought I Had Gotten Lazy” — Where Your Energy Actually Went.

One good day, then three days of paying for it. Tomorrow is about what’s actually behind that, and at the end of the hour I hand you three things to do about it.

Every one had to pass the same test: it has to survive a bad week. None costs money, none is a supplement, none needs a gym or another appointment, and none asks you to give up something you love.

All three go out on one page with the replay, so there’s nothing to write down.

Free. One hour, then questions until they’re done. The replay goes to everyone who registers, so it’s worth registering even if tomorrow already looks like a bad night.

You buy organic to avoid the chemicals in plastic. That’s not where they come from.

Ten families ate nothing but fresh, organic, unpackaged food for five days. Researchers were trying to bring their levels down. The levels went up twenty-five times.

It wasn’t their kitchens. It was in the food before anybody bought it — picked up in processing and handling, long before a store.

Organic is a rule about how something is grown. It says nothing about what the food touched on the way to the shelf.

Which sounds like nothing you do matters. It isn’t. The part upstream of you is a regulation problem, and nobody is failing at buying groceries.

Here’s what is yours. Buy closer to the source when you can — a farmer’s market has fewer steps in between. Wash your produce. And keep heat away from plastic: glass or stainless for anything warm, especially anything oily.

That’s the part you actually control, and it’s free.

Once your bloodwork comes back “normal,” the next thing you’ll want to run is a test that promises to find what it missed.

Wanting that makes sense — after years of “normal,” you want something on paper.

One of the most popular is a hair test: you mail in a snip of hair and get back a chart of minerals and metals, marked high or low.

In 2001, researchers split one person’s hair and sent it to six labs without saying it was the same hair. For twelve of the minerals, one lab’s number was more than ten times another’s, and no two labs flagged the same mineral as high.

In 2013, another team ran a similar check. The numbers had become consistent — but each lab still used its own “normal” range, so the same number could be “normal” at one lab and “high” at another. A 2013 review of the research reached the same conclusion: without one agreed “normal,” hair testing isn’t a reliable way to judge nutrition.

That’s why I don’t run it. It has real uses in forensics and some population research — that isn’t what’s being sold.

The question that works on any test: if two labs read the same sample, would they call it the same thing?

You’re not behind. You were given the wrong instructions.

Go hard in January, quit by February — that doesn’t build anything. And you come away thinking you failed at it.

Here’s what actually builds the part of you that makes energy.

Ten minutes of movement, most days. Something you were going to do anyway. The walk to the car takes the long way. The phone call happens standing up.

Not harder. More often. When it was measured, the steady version and the hard version came out almost the same. And it showed up at two weeks — not two months.

You don’t have to be sore the next day for it to count.

Miss a week and it barely costs you anything, because it’s the showing up that does it, not the pushing. You pick it back up.

Tuesday, September 29 — a free hour, and you’ll leave with three of these. 7:00pm Eastern / 6:00pm Central.

Two weeks.

That’s how long it takes before movement starts building new mitochondria — the structures inside cells that make energy.

Not two months. Two weeks. Which happens to be the answer to “I’m too late.”

Three hundred and fifty-three studies. A little under six thousand people. Measured five different ways.

Steady, moderate work increased the amount of mitochondria in muscle by about 23%. Intervals — the harder, shorter kind — increased it by about 27%.

Put those two numbers next to each other. 23% steady. 27% hard. They landed close. So it isn’t the going hard that does it — it’s the turning up. In this research, consistency is what matters.

Which means you don’t have to be sore the next day for it to count, and you don’t have to become a person who trains like an athlete. You just have to show up and put in some kind of effort on most days.

The researchers say it plainly: the ability to do this is kept throughout life.

There is a saying in the fitness world - "You have to spend energy to get energy." This is the research that proved that saying!

There’s a number on your bloodwork that looks fine and isn’t.

Normal isn’t the same as optimal. Here’s what that looks like on a B12 result.

When your doctor checks it, they measure the total in your blood. About eighty percent of that total is stuck to a protein that won’t hand it over. It’s in the blood. It’s on the report. Cells can’t use it.

The standard test doesn’t separate the two. So the total can look completely fine while the part that matters is short.

There’s a second test that measures whether the cells are actually getting it. It’s called MMA — methylmalonic acid. Ask for it by name.

Educational only, not medical advice. Talk to your doctor about your own results.

Tuesday, September 29 — a free hour on the three results that come back fine and what was never being looked for. Nothing gets sold from the room.

“My metabolism is broken and it’s not coming back.”

Metabolism isn’t a speed setting you were born with. It’s work being done — by mitochondria, the structures inside cells that turn food and oxygen into usable energy. Most of them sit in muscle.

So when researchers wanted to know whether they break down with age, they took muscle samples from people aged eighteen to eighty-nine. The rate at which mitochondria produce energy falls about eight percent a decade.

And it matters who that was measured in — those were people who weren’t exercising much. So that eight percent is aging and twenty years of doing less, added together.

Which leaves the question that actually matters. The mitochondria still there — are they damaged, or are there fewer of them?

Researchers measured them directly in muscle and corrected for how many there were. The ones that were there worked normally.

There were fewer of them.

That’s not damage. That’s less of it to spend. Completely different problems, completely different answers, and only one of them is anybody’s fault.

Fewer. Not broken.

You know you should care. But the caring doesn’t show up.

That isn’t someone becoming a different person.

You don’t feel this as a number on a page. You feel it as mood. As drive. As whether you can be bothered.

Here’s the part nobody said after ninth-grade biology. Mitochondria — the powerhouse of the cell. They’re also the powerhouse of you.

So that thing with the caring has a physical side to it. It isn’t a personality change.

Which makes me think energy and mood and drive aren’t three conversations. They’re one.

And if that’s been going on a long time, tell your doctor. There are other things it can be.

Educational only, not medical advice.
