What is metamorphosis?

Metamorphosis defined by Merriam Webster is, "a typically marked and more or less abrupt developmental change in the form or structure of an animal (such as a butterfly or a frog) occurring subsequent to birth or hatching." Furthermore, metamorphosis can be divided into two groups: complete & incomplete.

With the last month of Summer well underway, now is a great time to look out for any hornet nests that have gone unnoticed near "high-traffic" areas. High-traffic areas include: doorways, decks, grills, garages, garbage cans or any other area where humans need to go/use - especially if those with a stinging allergy will be present.

Why check now? Hornet nests will have grown quite large at this point in the season (making them much easier to spot) and there are still plenty of resources for them. As the weather cools in the Fall, competition for resources will increase & members of the hornet colony will begin to slowly die - this is where their infamous aggression takes form.

By taking care of the issue now, you can avoid a sudden attack when their aggression is heightened.
