What is TMS?
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.
A coil is placed gently against the scalp. It sends brief magnetic pulses that create small electrical currents in targeted nerve cells. In conditions like depression, some of these areas can show lower-than-normal activity. TMS works to stimulate that activity over a series of sessions.
What to expect:
• No anesthesia or sedation
• You're awake and alert the whole time
• Most people drive themselves home and return to their day
• Sessions are done in-office over several weeks
TMS is FDA-cleared for major depressive disorder and is often considered when medications haven't provided enough relief. Every patient is evaluated by our clinical team to determine if it's the right fit.
