1,001 DAYS.
I was what my doctor would classify as a social drinker.
But on New Yearās Eve 2023, I found myself asking a simple question:
Why am I drinking?
Sitting there with a drink, I noticed how easy it was to focus on everything I was grateful forāthe people I loved, the good things in my lifeāand temporarily forget about the challenges I was facing.
And I remember thinking, I donāt need this.
I realized drinking had become a distraction from things I needed to face, not escape.
At the time, I was rebuilding Boomer Fitness basically from scratch after COVID, going through major changes in my personal life, and raising a newborn while waking up what felt like every hour of the night.
I needed clarity, strength, and faithānot a distraction.
So December 31, 2023 became my last drink.
Today marks 1,001 days alcohol-free.
Life didnāt suddenly get easier.
But I became more present for it.
More present for Dillon.
More present for my business.
More present for the difficult days and the great ones.
And through it all, Iāve grown closer to God and learned to trust that I donāt have to carry everything by myself.
1,001 days later, Iām healthier, stronger, more grateful, and still a work in progress.
I didnāt give up alcohol because my life had fallen apart.
I gave it up because I wanted to be fully present for the life God had given me.
